Well, our teacher did tell us the move was called salida but I misunderstood which part she was talking about.
(Though knowing salida means 'exit' is partly what caused me to misunderstand I think - I was paying attention!)

To expand for the follower what I'm referring to is side R, back L, back R, cross L, back R, side L. Only we started it with a forward L - that makes it the 8 count basic.
