OK, it's years since i've played the guitar and to add to that, I only had an acoustic one but there's something weird about this video that I don't understand.

The kid appears to be playing with a single plectrum but oddly, he didn't seem to pluck every string he was playing with left hand, especially the base notes (the ones highest on the guitar) also, towards the end, during a fast bit, he only seemed to pluck about every forth note...

But at the same time, his left hand, looked quite convincing, going tem to the dozen... But he can't make a sound with his left hand alone, surely? I'm confused!

Please could someone who knows more about electric guitar playing than me, is there some gismo, that strums/plucks the strings for you, please help me understand how this could work?
there is a way of playing using your fingers on the left hand to "hammer on" and "pull off" strings creating the notes.

You can't really do this with an acoustic guitar (Well not to this effect). It's more common in Metal playing.

This is an ever exagerated version of it using both hands
