There was a TV series about different dances a few years ago in which Deborah Bull (ex-ballet dancer) tried various other dance forms, including hip hop,and Lindy Hop/Jive/Modern Jive.
At one point she was interviewing Simon Selmon and (I think) James Cronin.
Simon demonstrated the core Lindy move - the Lindy turn/Swing out.
James then replied that Ceroc had taken the Lindy form, and simplified it resulting in the First Move which he proceeded to demonstrate.
I should add that Deborah attended a London Ceroc night and appeared to enjoy the social aspects of the format.
Being a professional dancer she also mastered Lindy with enviable ease and performed with Simon Selmon's Sugar Foot Stompers dance troupe at The 100 Club.
