I've devoured these myself -and ladies (yes,yes, sweeping generalisation and sexual stereotyping...., I know
) ,they're not just blood'n'guts swashbucklers(although there is a BIT of that in them..) , - they are great social/historical fiction and 'adventures against the odds', type of things..err... literary criticism not my strongest suit...
