Question Ceroc or not Ceroc ?

So, having told a couple of friends about my new hobby/addiction (Ceroc, not anything more dangerous !) I have been greeted with replies like "Oh yes, like on the BBC1 segment".

Not being a great watcher of TV I hadn't seen the thing, but being bedridden with a cold (feeling sorry for me yet ?!) yesterday I saw it.

I think I noticed an octopus among the moves - but can anyone confirm whether or not it is actually Ceroc ? It would appear to be far more elegant than anything I could ever muster !

If it's the one I'm thinking of (one that's been around for a year or two), IMO it's probably more Salsa than Ceroc.

Having said that, it was taught once at a South Birmingham Ceroc freestyle - I think there was an Octopus variation in there somewhere.

The footwork is salsa. Many salsa arm movements are similar if not the same as ceroc arm movements, its the things you do with the feet that distinguish them.

People in Red

The "People in Red" are dancing Salsa -- though I have been to a Jive class that tought the same body / arm movements. The only real modification was to slow the set of hand movements where the man takes the hands from his right to his left shoulder so that they both fell on a whole (Jive) beat, rather than have one one a half (Jive) beat.

It is surely Salsa - ands there is a much better one featuring tango.
One of the Salsa moves (at least a slight variant of it) was in fact taught by Nigel and Nina at Camber and referred to as the salsa move "as seen on BBC TV"....

The guy in red leading the class teaches salsa with lambada body styling (lambada was his background and he markets the class as funky-salsa) at Pineapple studios and is amazing. Was the UK Salsa champ 3 years in a row. Shame you don't get to see any good dancing in the clip though.

The guy at the front of Tango one (long hair) is Ricardo - who teaches Tango in Glasgow (& Edinburgh).
