A little bit of help for an Aussie!!
Hi all,

I am new to the Forum.. Just so you have a little bit of history I currently dance at Ceroc & Modern Jive in Sydney (North Side), and absolutely love dancing...

My dance partner/boyfriend Peter and I are coming over to the UK in June. We are looking to live in London for a working holiday. We would really appreciate any information regarding accommodation, work opportunites or just any helpful information regarding living in London. Even if you know of someone that may need a house sitter around June or if you know of somewhere reasonable/affordable to stay. We will also be looking to move into an apartment either to share, or on our own, so any information you have would be fantastic!

I live about 40 mins outside of London so can't really help on the accomodation front ... but would be pleased to ask around/help in any way I can

Peter and I are looking to hit London June 12, and probably staying until early 2009... We are really open to stay for as long as we like, as we are both blessed with British Citizenship... BE VERY SCARED

Gumtree is possibly one of the most useful websites for getting yourselves settled into a place in London. It also has travel partners & all kinds of other, slightly odd but seemingly useful info.

Hi Amy, can't help much with London info as I haven't spent much time there - but for ease of dealing with things like bank accounts - I would recommend contacting 1st Contact - they can help set you up with a bank account - SO MUCH more difficult than you would think to do on your own - and UK mobile number within days of arrival - and can have the phone number waiting for you when you arrive it you get in touch early enough.

Look forward to seeing you both soon

Yep, I used them too. Bank accounts in particular are notoriously difficult to organise- and they do it all for you
