Smile Who says romance is dead?

At a colleague's farewell party recently a few of us were discussing the valentine's day that had just passed and how it had been spent after a friend proudly informed us that his valentine gift for his girlfriend was a pair of cordless phones (not one but a pair!). The ladies all bemoaned the fact that their husbands had not bought them gifts and treated it as just another day except for one whose husband had carried her bedroom portable TV downstairs early on that evening. On enquiring why he was doing this, he told her that he was going to set up that TV next to the main set downstairs so that he could watch football and she could watch her programmes but still they would be 'spending time together'

Anyone else experienced similarly thoughtful romantic gestures from a partner that they would care to share?

It's my wedding anniversary today.... 9 years ago today I gave up freedom....and started learning the art of compromise (anyone who knows me will say that's rubbish and I've kept on going on my own merry way expecting hubby to keep up!!) Anyway... did I get a card, No. Did I get a present, no. I got "happy anniversary". However, I didn't buy him one either as last year on receipt of my card he said " cards are such a waste of money" - no romance in the man's soul!

I personally can't be doing with Valentines Day - I would MUCH rather someone do something special out of the blue, just because its Friday / raining / because they just felt like it.

Aww, thats wonderful!

My boyfriend often leaves me notes everywhere saying he loves me, or text me a few lines of lyrics from some of my favorite romantic songs.
Hes even started ceroc, and is doing quite well considering hes on his 4th week next week.

Surely it was a while before you found out?

Or was that the only year you - um - on Valentine's Day?
