She's done it 5 times already. ![]() Sorry sis...All the best with giving up. I tell you what. If you go without a single puff between now and Christmas, I'll do Christmas dinner this year. You can sit on your arse all day while I do the cooking, fetching your drinks and me and Gav will even keep the kids entertained. What do you say?

They're 2 very tough things to do and often, when giving up smoking we reach for food instead. Is trying to do both at the same time setting yourself up to fail? Or is it killing 2 birds with 1 stone? Again, I have no wish to pooh-pooh anyone's plans or question their ability, just giving you something to think about. ![]()

Rep Power: 1 Rep.: 180 ![]() | Re: The Forum diet club Can I join the diet club too??? ![]() I would like to get from 72kg down to 65kg hopefully in time for Dec. I've calculate that to loose the weight in that timescale I should be consuming no more than 1280kcal a day, which is not really a lot! So I am going to have to do a fair amount of exercise to earn myself some more calories which I am going to eat eat eat! To get me started I thought it might be a good idea if we each make a pledge for the week to keep us inspired and on the straight and narrow. Here is mine to start Monday - Find my gym kit and get it dusted and packed. No mean feat Tuesday - Ceroc Wednesday - Back to the gym where I havnt been since June! Will start easy with 15 min warm-up on bike, 20 min cross trainer and 10 min rowing Thursday-Ceroc Friday - Rest day Saturday - Rest, but will be at a wedding with loads of dancers so should be able to boogie the wedding cake right of my bum where I am sure it was planning on settling down Sunday - Rest Oh and as I need to stop smoking I am in a "cutting down phase" So I have promised myself that I can only go for a ciggie break at work if I take the stairs up and down! As I work on the 8'th floor it's a way. So far I havnt been LOL Cause I is a lazy mare |

First week just giving up smoking, nicotine gone then and second week can concentrate on new eating plans and exercising as cravings should have passed. Your then fighting the habit so my idea is, if we are concentrating on new eating plans and exercising, takes our minds off reaching for ciggies. xx

What can I do in the meantime when I work full time, study for 3+ hours every night and all day every day on a weekend? I have 1 evening off a week from studying to dance with Mr Darcy - he'll find a new favourite dancer at this rate cos he never gets to dance with me any more ![]()

About halfway through your studying, take a break and try around 20 minutes exercise. It's not that important what it is - maybe 20 random minutes of an exercise DVD (try to include the warm up though) or something - anything that you can do without straying too far from your desk. You should find that when you return to your studying your productivity will increase because your brain will be more alert. This extra productivity should more than pay for the 20 minutes that you spent away from the desk. Frequency of exercise is more important than intensity, duration and type, so if you did this every time you study, then you'll make decent progress and pass your exams. Paul

![]() I am not the negative one.............All I am saying is losing weight is not rocket science. Exercise and eat. If anyone is negative it is all the people attacking me for my comments with no understanding and excuses. As you mentioned it is not easy to keeping it off, its hard work (but can be enjoyable). Sorry but it is as simple as saying do something about it. It not a lack of understanding, it just laziness and overindulgence in food. Do you think overweight people lack self esteem? Seems as though you imply this as a yes, as they need support, encouragement, understanding. Cant do it on their own, where heaps of people before them have done so. Its just excuse after excuse. At the gym I attend, a girl started boxing classes 3 months ago. She was overweight but no one at the gym cares because she is there exercising. She has lost weight and looks much better, but has more weight to shed. Her self esteem is returning because she can see the results. What better way is there to gain self esteem for an overweight people? Nobody at the gym laughs at overweight people, that would be pathetic. I took my Mum (aged 63 at the time) to the gym. She would walked to lose weight and for fitness but the results were no weight loss. So I encouraged her to join the gym, 16 months later she has lost 11kgs and is very happy with the results. But it is her that lost the weight, went to the gym and just did it. Last night I watched a lady being trained by a personal trainer. In sets of 10 she would often stop after 4 reps and the trainer was trying to get her to continue to 10. She stopped again after 2 more. Watching her do this it became apparent that this lady has never been pushed in her life to work hard. I mean she wasn't even struggling on the 4th rep and just stopped. The trainer could not get her to continue. She was understanding, compassionate, encouraging but it didn't work. This lady unfortunately, will not lose weight until her attitude changes. I have seen her at the gym for the past 4 months and nothing has changed. All I can say in closing and not continuing in this thread is, "If it is to be it is up to me". Stop making excuses and Just Do It.
