Perfume advice please...

I have to buy some perfume as a gift, but I'm allergic so I can't smell or test them myself.

Can anyone recommend a light lemony/citrus-type fragrance suitable for daytime? She likes Elizabeth Arden 'Green Tea' but wants to try something different.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Think Miller Harris do one ... so you could find a stockist and ask them; they aren't especially cheap, but pretty much all smell lovely.

I can personally recommend Eau de Anosmia. I never need worry about finding a perfect scent ever again !

Cliniuque's Happy is nice and light and fruity. I have a small tester somewhere here that I quite liked.

I think perfume is a very personal thing though, so it's very difficult to buy for someone else. What might smell great on one person will smell different and wrong on another.

- it's to do with the chemical reaction between the different notes in the perfume and the wearer's skin. Perhaps the best thing to do is get her a gift card for a perfume shop (Boots or somewhere) with a few suggestions she might like to try?

I like the original Hugo Woman scent for daytimes as it's fresh and light-feeling. The original Kenzo one is also quite light, a little bit more floral but not cloying. Cool Water (woman) is also refreshing. Estee Lauder Beyond Paradise has a very pretty rainbow bottle and is light but floral - hyacinths and honeysuckle (but not sickly sweet). Dona Karan DKNY is quite tangy & citrusy, if I remember rightly.

Hope some of that helps

Re: Perfume advice please...

This post will, unfortunately, be of no help at all but there is a perfume out there that is unique in my eyes.
It is unique in that it is the only fragrance I have ever come across that actually makes me feel physically unwell.

It's very strange and I have no idea what it is called. It is such a sharp attacking fragrance. Really really unpleasant.

Ok, pointless, unhelpful post over.

If you want a really fresh zesty smell - my fave is Light blue - Dolce & gabbana

I'm allergic to synthetic perfumes and don't like them anyway, but I know what you mean - some are much worse than others. There is one called 'Poison' which makes me feel headachey and sick at the same time.

Join the club. Most of them will make me feel awful, but Poison's one of the worst.

Miss Flicts, while I share your intolerance to perfumes, Clinique's Happy wasn't too bad - and smells lovely. I wore it for a while when my tolerance levels were high. If you're giving the perfume to a friend, maybe this way it won't absolutely slay you every time you see her!

Creed, Royal Water - it smells lovely. In fact, I don't think you can go wrong with anything from Creed.

Absolutely........what smells lovely on one person will smell awful on another.

I always wear Poison and Hypnotic Poison, which are very heavy and a lot of peeps say they hate those perfumes..........yet I have loads of compliments because they work well with my skin (warty and toadlike :chortle, chortle

It always amazes folk when I tell them that its Poison.

I'd go down the voucher route.......then not only do you get the surprise of knowing that you have new perfume, you also get the girly fun of going to choose it

ETA Just spotted TM's post up above......thats exactly my point when a perfume is worn on the wrong skin.
