I'm giving up free fall parachuting.

ok admittedly I didn't do any before lent but I had the option to if I was so inclined. By giving it up for lent I no longer have the option.. I feel so deprived.

Last year I gave up alcohol but cos I felt so sorry for myself gorged on chocolate instead - pathetic!

So this year I'm giving up both alcohol AND chocolate! Wish me luck!

You might well do honey... particularly as he seems to be getting back into this dancing lark again

Am hoping to drag him along to Chiswick sometime, though we may have to venture up to Bedford for one of CJ's nights and book ourselves into the local B&B in Biggleswade, where I hear they do the most fabulous cooked brekkies

Re: What are you giving up for Lent?

I'm removing a light bulb from a lamp in my living room that I use every night for lent (I have three living room lamps in total so I wont be in the dark)

It a small way of reducing my carbon footprint for a while and will irritate me enough to be 'giving it up' because I can't stand it if the lights are not right. If we all did the same, it would make a difference.

Is this a low energy light bulb? If not, why not simply replace it with a low energy one

I only use low energy light bulbs.

The idea is that you take the bulb out for lent so you can't use it at all, THEN replace it with a low energy one when Lent is finished.

And of course, after no goodies for weeks, two people at work decide to bring in masses of chocs today.

I've been good, so far.

Re: What are you giving up for Lent?

I almost opened a choc mini-roll I had in my drawer at work this morning - then gave it to a work mate who fortunately scoffed it straight away

Then I went and bought loads of non-chocy snacks such as fruit/crisps and also a packet of fruit pastelles which I just ate all in one go

It's gonna be a long 6/7 weeks

Chocolate and crisps.

Mind you I already gave those up in January so I've had some practice.
