When I moved to the Uk some 14 years ago, people said to my mum "that ain't so bad, London isn't too far"...I was moving to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne...Eg when you speak about England to a foreigner, they immediately think of London (whereas there's a WHOLE COUNTRY out there...) Same with the Dutch.... There's only Amsterdam, right...? Been there twice, once on a schooltrip when I was 13, and once to do an interview when I was a journalist at 22  In fact, I was born near Eindhoven in the South, (land of Philips and PSV) but my parents moved further South just over the border into BELGIUM (AAaaarrgghh!!) when I was still too young to have a say in the matter. So spent some 20 years there before moving to the UK... Call it escapism.... Don't reckon I'll ever move back (never say never...) cos it's too flat down that way and they don't DANCE!!!! | |
