Shall we dance, or something.

Apparently, there's this great new film out, starring Richard someone.
It's got some dance in it, or it's about dancing, or at least it's got dancing in the title.

Anway, I met some dodgy bloke in a club - said his name was Clive Long, or Martin Harper or something, said he'd give me some rep if I started a thread, then we can all talk about it.

Oh god, where are my tablets

For someone as handsome, intelligent and such a good dancer as you young man why do you pretend to be such a twerp?

No rep for anyone again, ever.

Hope I’m posting this in the right place

Just back from watching the film

Slightly surreal with so many references to Blackpool,

For those of you, who have not seen it - it’s a love story. A love story about the love of dance

And for those of you who have seen it - How many caricatures from your own class, could you recognise?

If, in addition to a love of dance, you have a love of cinematography, do watch the Japanese version as well

Then again if you have a love of cinematography you have probably already seen the Japanese version

Re: Shall we dance, or something.

Ive just seen the film (on a flight to Oz) and I thought it was the best modern dance film that I have yet seen. Characters and emotions were so akin to true life, although I missed any 'surreal' aspects of the film!
Highly recommendable.

Thumbs up Re: Shall we dance, or something.

I finally got to see this film last night and I loved it(mostly)
Wouldn't Jennifer Lopez be fantastic if she could act as well? -I was very happy to just watch her though
...........and for those of you worrying about the health of my marriage, Mr Gere was ultimate eye candy for Mrs Latinlover( I bet you can see the likeness now, cancha, eh?? ) so everyone was happy.

I thought the end of the competition was far too hollywood, very unrealistic, which is a shame considering how true to life most of the rest of the film was.
Certainly the dancing by the principals was as good as anything that doesn't have Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly in it(oh ,alright and Patrick Swayzee ).
And let's not undervalue the difficulty of pretending you CAN'T dance when really you can. OK ,I'm not a ballroom afficionado like Sparkles , but I was quite convinced by Richard Gere's quickstep in the competition -even if he did seem to be an intermediate competing against a whole load of advanced dancers!
And the tango with Ms Lopez................ Sexiest scene since the chess game in the thomas crown affair, and not even a hint of a threatened kiss
yupp
thumbs up from me. a film which actually celebrates and communicates the love of dancing

Re: Shall we dance, or something.

Oi, you lot, this is my thread. And it is supposed to be a humorous dig at Clive Long and Martin Harper who like to spend time pointing out how new threads are started on old topics. (It obviously wasn't very funny because I'm now having to explain it.)

If you really want to talk about the film, please make your way to either

Shall we dance ?

or

Shall we Dance!

Or if you prefer, make me a happy man and start a fourth thread on the same subject.
