And? A pair of nice shoes? Sounds like a good outfit to me!

I think my range is a bit boring when it comes to dance clothes. Black trousers and various sparkly tops. Easy to mix'n'match which is great for packing though.

My fave item is a Morgan halter neck top - mostly black (of course) but with lace at the front. (Not a very good description I know!). Its great as it looks equally good with a really formal skirt and black trousers.

I saw some one with them and thought they loooked really pretty any idea where I can get some? I had thought I might just bead my existing ones or replace the elastic with ribbon.

I think mine was on sale (typical for me ) - probably Dunnes (do you have that over there?) or Primark. there were several variations with it - a diamante, flowers, the clear plastic ones, all in the one pack - and they are the sort of universal hooks so you could use on them on any multiway.

Re: New clothes!!

I'm frustrated

I need some new dance trousers... so I do a bit of googling and find just what i'm looking for

http://www.la2uk.com/catalogue/ladies+trousers

Then I look at the sizes and discover that 10-12 and in some cases 8-10, is the largest size they do in the styles I like

Didn't I read somewhere that the average UK woman is size 16?

Even if I had no fat left on my bones, i'd still be bigger than a size 10

Re: New clothes!!

I have ordered two (yes two ) pairs of spangly dance shoes from Heavenly and agonised long and hard over what colours to choose. (the Master Plan nearly went out of the window when I walked into the shop - couldn't believe the range of sparkles and glitter and colour!). Anyway, I was controlled enough to order one silver pair to go with most dance things I own, but for the other I succumbed to temptation and went purple & glittery. It is a strange fact that although my favourite colour is purple and about half my clothes are shades of lavender/purple, not one of my dance skirts is truly purple. In the last week I've been looking EVERYWHERE for a nice purple/lavender swirly skirt but not one is to be found! Not even in regular stock (usually I am a strict sale-shopper, for reasons of economy and proliferation - I can have more if it's cheaper!). I am either going to have to resort to sewing classes and making my own, or buying white and dyeing it.

It's not helped by the fact that I'm a fussy madam and it has to be just right AND £10 or under (my most complimented dance skirt was £3 in the Next Clearance sale)

Re: New clothes!!

LC - learn to sew, it makes life so much easier.

I can knock a pair of linen trousers that would cost £50 plus in the shops for less than a tenner. Best places to buy fabric tend to be markets (I usually go to Brixton - am sure there must be places up north), and they do often have the most amazing fabrics (often left-over rolls of things that you see made-up in the shops) at knock-down prices. You get to chose colour, style, length and most importantly fit. Having said that, I haven't actually done much sewing of late - been too busy dancing!

How could I forget! But it's more the dancing - too knackered after a night out when I do theoretically have time on a weekend..

Re: New clothes!!

I would always recommend Chrisanne for dancing clothes, but I'm not sure of their sizing guide and they are fairly pricey - having said that their stuff always fits and moves beautifully and it lasts for ages.

I know, I know! I really want to learn to sew and nearly bought a sewing machine recently. I did actually have sewing lessons at school (rare to find a school with a sewing room any more, I know) so I'm not a complete novice, just very out of practice. I'm more into knitting at the moment but while it's great for baby jackets it's not so useful for swirly skirts!

Have found a white linen skirt (£2) which I plan to dye purple/add beads to.

The shoes arrived today and are REALLY sparkly and lovely!

Re: New clothes!!

I went out today with the aim of doing some work stuff! Yet i ended up going for lunch with my sister and then shopping. I got lots of vouchers for my birthday and have found nothing to spend them on, until today! I went into a shop called exhibit (only in NI and Newcastle) and bought two new fabby tops for £13! Both can be used casual/dance/dressy i was soooo chuft!
