I thought we were, so I told my story. Never did get that "hard to get " or "air of mystery" thing some girls master so well .... Maybe I took that equality thing too far thinking I could act like the boys and tell the stories later .....

Must practise that sealed lips thing ........got some superglue somewhere...

Wx (singing - well humming cos my mouth is shut - Like A Virgin !!)

PS Funny how you chose The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie ! Saw it in primary 5 or 6 and did that thing in the corner of the classroom and someone told the teacher and I got a row !!! Sooo unfair !!!

I suppose it means when you dance you can't sing along..... Or perhaps it's what they do in Belgium cos they're not quite French ????

PS Another great night CJ - loved that Vinnie Jones track !!! Can't believe it was him !!!!!

To be honest ... one of the key reasons for running the thread was the near death story. AS Jayne said .. in 'down the pub ' nights I've heard mates talk about loads of horrific incidents where they literaly escaped with their lives. Me ... I've always put my many near misses down to crass stupidity, lack of balance and being far too trusting. I rekon the only reason I'm still here is that I've got good reflexes, good mates and that the Good Lord has got something pretty special for removing me from this planet. I reckon there are loads more good stories out there ... people tend to forget ... but I did like the thought of little Bill cycling up that road surrounded by heavy traffic.

The question on sex was, in hindsight, a bit distracting, but I hope that the thread has managed to put a more indepth view on your fellow Forum members....now how the heck are we going to get the likes of Rena or Erick to post their profiles????

Could be... but this is just a fragment from my tapestry - it sort of looses a bit taken out of context and the whole tale is a bit long winded. Perhaps I'll write a book some time; it would have to come under 'fiction' though: No-one would believe it as factual.

John S has a spectacular aura aboutJohn S has a spectacular aura about
My Way

1. BIRTHPLACE

On a kitchen floor in Glasgow (midwife arrived later than me!)

2. 3 FAVOURITE BOOKS

The Heart of the Matter - Graham Greene (Religion, Sex, Death, Tropical Heat)
The House of the Spirits - Isobel Allende (more of the same!)
Catch 22 - Heller (you either get it or you don't!)

3. 3 FAVOURITE CDs

Beauty & The Beast - Meatloaf & Bonnie Tyler
Tapestry - Carole King
Best of the Proclaimers (especially Track 6!)

4. 3 FAVOURITE FILMS

The Wizard of Oz
Apocalypse Now
Heavenly Creatures

But ask me every day for the next month and I'll give you another three!!!!

5. MOST HATED FILM

Dunno - just watch ones I reckon I'll like.
"Titanic" was disappointing, but at least Leo copped it.

6. FAVOURITE DANCE OUTFIT

Black and white (same as Dunfermline Athletic, in fact!)

7. FAVOURITE DRINK

Ginger beer & Lime

8. WORST HANGOVER

My Love Handles

9. BEST HOLIDAY

Never had a really bad one, probably Canada was best

10. FAVOURITE GAME

Teasing Sheena, Heather, Wendy etc on Forum

11. SECOND CHILDHOOD DREAM JOB

Teasing Sheena, Heather etc

12. REAL LIFE HERO

Homer Simpson (he is real, isn't he??)

13. CLOSEST BRUSH WITH DEATH

Teasing Sheena, Heather etc

Apart from that, and of course the answer to (1) , I guess it has to be rolling the car over and over on black ice on the M8 twenty years ago.

14. MOST BIZARRE PLACE HAD SEX (OPTIONAL)

"sex (optional)"????? You mean, as opposed to when one really wasn't up for it?????

Well, like Jayne I think this is NOT a matter to reveal to the worldwide readers of the Forum, as the other party involved might be out there on line somewhere - and anyway, the book & film rights have still to be decided.

Birthplace
Dewsbury, Yorkshire

3 Favourite Books
Mort - Terry Pratchett
Executive Orders - Tom Clancy
The Peter Principle - Dr Lawrence Peter

3 Favourite CDs
First, Last & Always - Sisters Of Mercy
Song Remains The Same - Led Zeppelin
Survivor - Destiny's Child
(The first two have been pretty constant, but the last one changes every so often)

3 Favourite Films
Shawshank Redemption
Blade Runner
Casablanca

Most Hated Film
Titanic - Never see it, and no intention of seeing it.
The worst I have seen was 'American Beauty'.

Favourite Dance Outfit
Baggy trousers and a dry shirt.

Favourite drink
Port

Worst Hangover
About a year ago, after a Christmas Party at work, I staggered home quite late. The next morning I woke up with the pillow stuck to my face, and a headache that seemed to start on the outside of my head. I later found out I had tripped up going up the stairs, hit the banister with my nose, and pushed my glasses back almost into my eyes. I made a reasonable job of cleaning myself up, and even cleaning up the bathroom. However I forgot about the stairs.
The scary thing is I can't remember any of it!

Best Holiday
Driving from San Francisco to LA along the coast, and back through the National Parks

Favourite Game
Rugby

Childhood dream job
Soldier

Real Life Hero
A hero is someone who risks his life to save others. Anyone who does that gets my vote.

Closest Brush with Death
Dropping Lily...

Post Profile

Here we go:

1. Dundee

2. The Beach - Alex Garland (sooo much better than the film)
Catcher in the Rye - JD Salinger
Sleepers - Lorenzo Carcaterra (again much better than the film)

Currently reading The Straw Men - Michael Marshall which is very good.

3. Now these do have a habit of changing
Either Or - Elliott Smith (no sheena not that Elliot!!)
Both Coldplay Albums
Optimist LP - Turin Brakes

Muse, Gomez, Jill Scott, Damien Rice, Tom Mcrae, Gemma Hayes are all contenders for the list as well!

4. Star Wars Trilogy
Shawshank Redemption
TopGun

5. Worst film is difficult
Interview With a Vampire - in fact anything with vampires qualifies I think!!

6. Kilt
Black trousers + white crinkly shirt

7. Non-alcoholic - water
Alcoholic - JD and coke, Red Wine

8. Which hangover to choose!! Erm possibly the one when I was on holiday in France. Managed to be sick in the tent then had to take the tent down that morning in the pouring rain feeling really terrible. If that wasn't bad enough I then had to navigate us back up north through France!

9. Despite the hangover going camping in France with my best mate for a week in 98.

10. Board Game - Monopoly
Computer Game - Circuit Breakers

11. Pilot (when I was younger)

12. Plenty people I admire but don't have any heros

13. Asthma attack

14. Now that would be telling!

Cheers
Steven
