Ummm. Nope.

Besides....I have a bone to pick with young Rachel....

I went all the way to Hipsters last night. And she wasn't there.

And I'd only gone to catch up with some of the dances that she owes me....

Pardon?????

I am dumbstruck by this remark! I'm going to go away and have my tea break now, and will try and think of a suitable reply ... Rest assured, I shall find some appropriate way of dealing with you, Gus!

Oh but Steve, if only I'd known you were going!

Though I usually only make Tues Hipsters on special occasions - and I was certainly too tired to drive there last night, so I just went out locally. Just, please, don't tell me how good it was at Hipsters yesterday!

We'll definitely catch up sometime....

For me, Hipsters was great last night. I think I only danced with 5 different people all night. But all of those would definitely make my 'favourite's' list. Don't know how it would have rated with other people. It was a little quieter than normal. Don't know whether that's good or bad.

What really surprised me though (and I was discussing this with Jon Brett later on in the evening), was that when I arrived, there were only 10 couples doing the class!! Yet, there were probably at least 130 people (I'm hopeless at estimating numbers though) there later on. Some of those would have been doing the lindy class, but most, like me, would have just turned up to do the freestyle. With Nigel teaching the class, you'd have thought that many more people would turn up for the class, but apparently not. Anyone have any ideas why this might be? (Although, since none of you were there, this might be difficult). I have my own thoughts, which I'll post later on if there are any other ideas.

Definitely won't be there next week though I'm teaching in Brighton on Tuesday night.

Keith will become famous soon enough
Now that would be good to see .. only heard of one couple doing that kind of thing ... apparently at Beach Boogie ... waiting eagerly for the video.
Hi Gus,
Just read this thread.
As far as I know it was Dan & Sue, who were teaching Hip Hop, Lindy orientated.
You will know Sue FreemanÕs history, but Dan Banes is along these lines;
Called in at Sue's when he was about 15 years old & asked her to teach him Lindy Hop. He then went on to learn Jive (could have been the other way round) anyway, as he progressed with his dancing he went to Hip Hop lessons & Breakdance lessons thereafter. In between all this he did a little club/podium dancing.
If any body has seen Dan they will fully appreciate his own unique style, instigated & helped along by Sue. This is what makes their dancing so special & a pleasure to watch.
I would have to rate them with the likes of V & L, N & N etc. Their own unique style & fantastic teachers.
Keith

Boy ... totaly forgotten about the main man ... actualy the other couple are a young couple, both in their early twenties I'm lead to believe.

Re Dan and Sue ... knew a lot about Dan since his famous explosion into the scene in 99 but didn't realise that Sue had taught him HipHop in the first place. Sue F must be the greatest teacher I've never seen teach!! One day will rectify this terrible ommision.
