Hiding The Forum From Your Boss.

I notice a lot of forumites are on the forum AAALLLLL day (me included. Well almost) but what I'd like to know is, how do you manage to get so much work done at the same time and how do you manage to not get caught out when the bill comes in? Has anyone EVER had a telling off and know of anyone who has been banned from the internet as a result of using it too much.

Re: Hiding The Forum From Your Boss.

I've been caught several times and had a telling off for it so have had to limit coming on the forum for the majority of the day as a result .

I do sneak it in every now and again though

Alt - Tab is a brilliant function. If you see someone coming it swaps pages very quickly..

Sometimes they might walk past and see the 'e' sign at the bottom of the screen. However I look innocent all the time so no need to practice that!

And block those telltale avatar images (User CP - Edit Options - show Avatars tickbox).

Also, having "forum tabs" in your Mozilla / Firefox browser means you can swap to work-y things without much mouse movement - clicking Alt+Tab looks a bit guilty. (Oh, and if you're using IE, well, you deserve to be caught )

Not that I've spent much time thinking about this.

Re: Hiding The Forum From Your Boss.

I have my own office (sounds grand but it isn't!) and I work pretty quickly. I find in jobs the faster you work - not taking breaks, multi-tasking etc, the more you are expected to do. So I make sure I pace myself work wise by looking on here every so often! I try not to let it affect my productivity and I always make work deadlines my priority. (No, really, I do, I don't like letting people down.)

And there are days when I am ahead on all my work and waiting for someone else to get back to me about something before I can proceed. And other times I sign off for work and stay in the office, if my boss comes in I tell him I have signed off but am staying for a while to use the computer. That's not always a good idea though because people still tend to think 'she's in the office anyway, I'll just ask her if she can do this...'
