Cars being done !!

My car just got done outside my house! Called the police who gave me a crime number for the insurance wow!

I know there is nothing they can do apart from come and look at a broken passenger side window

Luckily Rachel was looking out of my bedroom window and saw it all, she even saw them drive off..

Obviously they were looking for my Tom Tom (b@st@rds)

Why do people do this?
How much bad luck do I need this year?

I am still shaking and in shock

Luckily I have my friends around me

I want to smash things

Am I alone or do others feel the same????

Re: Cars being done !!

Ah Becca i am sad to read this has happened to you This has happened to so many. Some nasty people even took the baby seats out of my friends car She now keeps a baby monitor in her car and plugs the other one in next to her bed so she can hear if anyone tries and gets into her car again.

Just keep everything with value out of sight whilst your car is left alone.

Stupid me didnt even lock my car last night Guess i am lucky its still there. Then again who would want to steal a car like mine.

Re: Cars being done !!

I've had my car broken into 6 times in the last 7 years (4 times in London, 2 times in Dundee). Without the break-ins, I'd have full, protected no-claims, as it is, I've got 0 no-claims, and an insurance bill of £800 this year (not to mention the excesses I've paid, and the un-insured stuff I lost the first time (those people who think that your car insurance will cover the 60 CDs, dance trainers, radio microphone, make sure that you get some house insurance now!).

I'd just like 5 minutes alone with them. In a sound-proofed room.

Re: Cars being done !!

A couple of weeks ago, three of the local yoof walked away with my neighbor's motorbike. Fortunately No 1 Daughter of neighbour of the next house along saw them. Said Dad and I went after the yoof and were able to recover the bike, but not before they had smashed the front while trying to hot wire it. Fortunately the police were on the scene within a couple of minutes, however the yoof got away. The bike-owning neighbour was out with his girl friend at the time - going to their second ever swing dance class (if you knew my Goth neighbour you'd understand what a big deal this is - he makes Lou look like a Westlife fan in comparison). Of course since then we've been waiting for the little b*st*rds to come back and vandalise the cars, in revenge for ruining their fun

Re: Cars being done !!

Sat nav and believe it or not, blue disabled badges, are the top of the pops for being pinched from cars at the mo. It doesn't matter if you hide the sat nav in the glove box - they look for fiited cradles, or the tell tale sticker marks on the windscreen. These are quite obvious when you know what you're looking for.

Sorry to hear your news

Re: Cars being done !!

I never leave my Sat Nav in the car, but I did leave the cradle on the windscreen.

The police have given me this website address. You register anything with a serial number on it. If the police recover it, then they know who it belongs to.

They are sending someone out to look at my car, so I cannot drive it, or get it repaired until they have tried to get some prints from the glove.

So Is anyone going past my flat on the way to Chesham tonight??

Here is a picture of my car.... Do you think clingfilm windows are now a fashionable statement

Never leave the cradle on display.. i always hide mine when i leave the car. You cant let them know that you own one, thats just asking them to break in and search for it.

They were in a box in the boot. Had been DJing the night before. Got home at 2am, and left them in the boot (saloon car) the one night

Re: Cars being done !!

They are b*stards and I am really sorry to hear that you have been done.

I am a claims manager in a Brokers and am afraid to say that if you have a tom tom, or leave the cradle in view, the chances are that you will have it stolen pretty pronto. The thieves just see a wadge of money sitting in your car and couldn't give a fig for your feelings or for the money that it will cost you in excess or the cost of the loss of no claims bonus.

Having been the victim of theft myself, I won't even leave a cheap jacket in the car........the thieves will hope that you have left money inside.

If you have comprehensive Insurance, you should have glass cover. They usually use Autoglass - 0800 363636 - just quote your policy no and they will be round in a couple of hours. Good luck.

Thanks Elaine.

I have FC Insurance so I called RAC Windscreens who promptly told me I would be waiting a week! I complained and told them that the car wasn't secure and therefore shouldn't be left.

They are calling me back in 2 hours to tell me when they can come

and...... it would make you feel better at first, but it would make you as bad as them.

I had my car done last year, they broke the passenger side window, left me a lovely gift of the brick they used inside the car and took the cd player.

I deal with these people daily, and getting your revenge would make absolutely no difference to them. And as for tackling them while the're doing it, you don't know what the're carrying and you might come off worst, is it really worth getting injured or worse?

Cars can be fixed, belongings replaced ............but people are irreplaceable!
