27th June 2006 - I will remember where I was

On the 27th June 2005 a new Forum World Record was 'posted' 425 users online at one time.

In true Record Breaking style I say we try and beat that this year. Lets try for at least 426 people on the same date at the same time.

Can we do it?

Unlikely. Last time almost all of those 425 woud have been automated web-crawling "spiders" that show up in packs (probably not the correct collective noun for spiders?) from time to time. I don't think they'll turn up to order on a particular day...

I never knew that. Thanks David.

And so the 'shortest thread in the world' record comes to a close

well if you had access to the MySQL back end database you could simply input a query that counted number of records for each thread ordered descending with a limit of 1.. this would tell you the biggest thread (although I suspect it's probably the Singleton Sofa) and for fastest growing remove the limit then find the time stamp of the first and last records for each thread group. Find the difference between the two dates and divide the number of posts by this figure

god I'm so sad..

Re: 27th June 2006 - I will remember where I was

I think the fastest-growing thread is probably word association, which has always seemed to me to be THE most pointless online game on the planet*.

*goes off to dig out word disassociation thread *

*IRL Word Association can be interesting from the POV of seeing how people's minds work, even quite revealing - but online. No. Why oh why oh why etc. And before anyone says "Don't read it then" - I don't - it's just a petty annoyance of mine that bloody WA threads appear on every single forum I've ever joined

Don't you think that TPBM is growing faster than WA?
