Unhappy freezing netscape???

Is anyone else having trouble with Netscape freezing on them?

I use Netscape (as opposed to Internet Explorer) through the University department's server and about every other time I log on and use the Ceroc website Netscape will freeze on me :reallymad - ie the links become dead: if I click on them they change colour for a moment, then revert back to their normal colour and I'm not taken to the link. The only way I can get round this is by logging off and logging back on again.

I've spoken to IT "support", who have checked my cache, history and bookmarks and futtered around with other bits of the system but the problem remains. The only thing that they can come up with is that one of the sites I'm using is knackering the program. Contrary to popular opinion, I don't spend all day surfing and the ceroc site is the one I use most frequently. so...

Has anyone else encountered similar problems or can a bright spark come up with a solution?

Cheers
Jayne

I assume it works now cos you posted this in July. I use Mozilla for browsing which uses the same engine as Netscape 6 - so if you upgrade to one of these, it should be fine .

It is with me. Apart from it posting random rubbish to the forum every now and again .

Hi DS,

I was thinking about this the other day..

It's definitely the forum that causing Netscape to crash. I stopped using the forum for a while a couple of months ago and Netscape was fine. Now I've relapsed Netscape is crashing again. Explorer is more reliable, but even that has started to fail sometimes...

Not sure which version of Netscape I use - it's on the Network so there's no chance of unpraging to a new version...

As for posting random rubbish - was that aimed at me or yourself????

Jayne

Sounds like a settting problem of some kind, have you tried 'Browsing without Cookies' its an option under your profile for this site. Dunno if that'll help.

i didn't really mean it in the literal sense and er..I cant bring myself to insult you - so Ill just say that you're a talanted, elegant dancer who looks very good in very little.

Doing the opposite of what people ask is a skill of mine

I use Netscape too and occasionally find that it freezes up when I'm on the forum. Generally this happens if I try to follow links before I've let the page fully load (patience being a virtue I have extreme difficulty with ) If I sit on my hands for a bit it's usually fine...

ditto. If I've done a serach for new threads, then reply to a post, to get back to the search again you need to go quickly back though the posting pages, otherwise you get stuck in the post. This is when it's most likely to freeze. I guess I should just post less frequently...
