10am -11am ?
For me, everyday between 10am and 11am, the forum goes really slowly, the pages take ages to come up and sometimes I loose connection all together, especially when I try to upload posts or try to send a PM.

Does anyone else have this problem? And can anyone offer an explanation

I don't have a problem with other websites.

I used to blame it on my old PC but I've got a new one now

Have had the same problem myself Lory.

Maybe the old computer needs a cuppa coffee about that time.....think I'll have one too.

I have the same problem too, and I'm using a big fancy work computer with extremely fast internet access - I don't understand it

Believe me, my laptop is no slouch either, maybe I meant it was me that was old.

I think it must be Scotland that goes slow at that time of the morning.

As far as I can tell, the host for www.cerocscotland.com is in the US - possibly in Denver. (Franck - want to comment?) in which case it's slowest at a local time of 3-4 am.

Yep. I know from the servers I have running vBulletin, things can slow considerably during backups (especially the copying of the databases.)

I'm not sure what the answer is. I solved my problems by using a more intelligent backup system, but I'd guess that's out of Franck's control. I'd also assume the scheduling would be too.

I've noticed its often slower when at work than at home (dialup) but hadn't noticed a particular time, but I am often on around teabreak time so that would fit. I did wonder about it.

I think that's a long way of saying !

Work slower than... dialup? Do you share a wet string as a connection at work or something?

Yeah the whole backup schedule is the most likely reason. Quite often I set tasks to run at night on machines when (I assume; and can at least check my own HTTP access log) the browsing workload will be at it's most quiet. As to what can be done it depends on the access provided to the webmaster.
