I had a friend in London (non-dancer) who used his middle name, and was called Andy Bennett. No surprise really, since his first name was Gordon.

My friends mother, who was called Daisy, married a Mr. Cheney.

And I did once also know a Christine Cross

Strathclyde Regional Council had someone called Basil Bush in the Architecture Department when I worked there. Always wondered whether his parents were hippies, kid's TV fans, or into herbacous borders...

& company names

Did you know the german company, Siemens', policy is to answer the phone with "Siemens" followed by the town in which the office is located? Try ringing up the Staines branch....

Not sure how true this is, but Blueyonder is, phonetically, the same as the Polish for 'Blue B******s' .

Quotes

Back in the early 70s, Scottish Television used to have a teatime magazine program called "Here & Now", presented by a chap called Bill Tennant. Once a week, he had a cooking spot which featured Fanny & Johnny Craddock. One week they were showing how to make your own doughnuts. At the end of the show, bill was doing his closing bits, telling who would be his guest tomorrow etc etc.....and it was then that he uttered those fateful words whilst munching on a doughnut...........and for those of you who are having a go at making your own doughnuts, ...I hope they turn out like Fanny's......
Don't think he ever lived it down, and it was a great source of amusement for us schoolboys

What a wonderful thread Peter,

You obviously have as much time on your hands as I do

My maths lecturer at college was called Richard Waurt

I often wondered if he had any sexual success with females once he mentioned this...
