1) The village of Dull in Perthshire. 2) A place called Conundrum not far outside Berwick. No-one knows why, apparently. 3) The village of Twatt in Orkney. No, I won't say it... 4) In Sutherland, there are villages called Culkein and Drumbeg, and one called Culkein Drumbeg halfway between for people who couldn't make up their mind... Anyone know any others? And how about examples beyond Scotland? The best one I know of is Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. It was named after a game show... ![]()

And last but not least, something you never get at the end of a ceroc night - DRYMEN ![]() |

For instance, Ardsniglish (Highland village) becomes an adjective describing "the behaviour of Sellotape when you are tired". Some of the words could even be useful at dancing: ladies could refuse a dance on the basis of a guy's wedderlairs (big sweat patches on his shirt), or his huby (an embarrassingly noticeable half-erection)... ![]()
