I did want one with an integral DVD recorder but there doesn't seem to be a good one avilable so based on recommendations in this thread I am thinking of getting the Humax. Can anyone who has one let me know the following: * Is there a suitable output so I could record from the HDD to an external DVD recorder? * Have any of you had Hard Disk failures? * Would you buy another Humax? Thanks Rob |

No. I haven't had it more than a few months though, so it's very early days. I like the product, have had no problems with it at all, and would happily buy more products from them if there was something I liked the look of.

(eg - you could always sell advertising space on it. Or use it as the starting point for a new fence. Or something...)

I probably would buy another one after to my customer service experience with them. I love the machine and having extra channels and recording capabilities without having to subscribe to Sky. | |

Rep Power: 2 Rep.: 112 ![]() | Re: Humax PVR-9200T advice I had a DigiFusion PVR first, and after endless failures/random loss of recordings/stragne lockups/missed programmes went with the 9200T instead. The Topfield was even more highly recommended to me but costs a lot more. That said, the 9200T has been perfect, almost never done anything wrong. I have not tried using the USB port but I believe it's possible to pull the video out through it and then you could burn a DVD without ever having to convert to analogue. Would definitely buy another if needed. |

- not had any problems with mine (had since xmas 2005)And, to be honest, not pulled much off of it as it's got quite a capacity. I do believe there's some films on there from xmas 2005 that haven't yet been watched But, when a hard copy is needed, we play the output via a DVD recorder and capture it that way to save messing about converting the files (just means you can't watch anything through it at the same time)

There is an annoying hum from the fan when not in standby (and is exacerbated by the acoustics of the cabinet it is in plus the shape of the room but not too noticeable in the spot where I sit to watch TV). I have done some looking around and see there are various DIY mods to lower the fan speed and thus lessen the noise. Whether I'll dare to invalidate my warranty and do it is another matter. |
