Humax PVR-9200T advice

I am thinking of getting a Freeview PVR. I did want one with an integral DVD recorder but there doesn't seem to be a good one avilable so based on recommendations in this thread I am thinking of getting the Humax.

Can anyone who has one let me know the following:

* Is there a suitable output so I could record from the HDD to an external DVD recorder?
* Have any of you had Hard Disk failures?
* Would you buy another Humax?

Yes .... I think ... surely you could simply do this via the same outputs that you'd use to hook it up to a TV? If not, I'll have to look when I get home. In case you didn't know, it also has a USB connector, which you can hook up to a portable USB drive, and offload videos that way.

No. I haven't had it more than a few months though, so it's very early days.

I like the product, have had no problems with it at all, and would happily buy more products from them if there was something I liked the look of.

Why waste a perfectly good post when you could make use of it in different, more imaginative way? (eg - you could always sell advertising space on it. Or use it as the starting point for a new fence. Or something...)

I have owned mine for about 16 months now and the hard disk went about 9 days before my one year warranty was up. I was extrememely impressed with their customer service. They organized a courier to pick it up (from work) and had it delivered back to work. I asked at the time whether it was a common problem and they said yes. I bet they would even fix the hard drive outside of warranty.

I probably would buy another one after to my customer service experience with them.

I love the machine and having extra channels and recording capabilities without having to subscribe to Sky.

I had a DigiFusion PVR first, and after endless failures/random loss of recordings/stragne lockups/missed programmes went with the 9200T instead. The Topfield was even more highly recommended to me but costs a lot more. That said, the 9200T has been perfect, almost never done anything wrong. I have not tried using the USB port but I believe it's possible to pull the video out through it and then you could burn a DVD without ever having to convert to analogue.

Would definitely buy another if needed.

- not had any problems with mine (had since xmas 2005)

And, to be honest, not pulled much off of it as it's got quite a capacity. I do believe there's some films on there from xmas 2005 that haven't yet been watched

But, when a hard copy is needed, we play the output via a DVD recorder and capture it that way to save messing about converting the files (just means you can't watch anything through it at the same time)

Got the Humax and generally v pleased with it - hugely more flexible than my previous hand-me-down freeview box. There is an annoying hum from the fan when not in standby (and is exacerbated by the acoustics of the cabinet it is in plus the shape of the room but not too noticeable in the spot where I sit to watch TV). I have done some looking around and see there are various DIY mods to lower the fan speed and thus lessen the noise. Whether I'll dare to invalidate my warranty and do it is another matter.
