Re: Excessive perspiration.. Is there a cure ???

Coincidentally I noticed a report on the news last night mentioning technology for the olympic team exercising in the heat of Beijing with perspiration and dehydration etc..

This is an acticle I found with a similar search.

I mentions swallowing a microchip but also high-tech cooling vests packed with ice. Now where can I get one of those?

Angry Re: Excessive perspiration.. Is there a cure ???

I hardly sweat at all, but after only 1/2 hour dancing, I look like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards, with each hair going its own way, no matter what I've put on it before!

Hauling around less mass will require less energy and result in the need to dissipate less heat.
Less weight will allow the heat to escape more easily. You gain twice over.

Do a lot more dancing to the medium and faster music and give up the blues.
Under Par is definately NOT seriously overweight! And please Under Par don't give up the blues room, I loved our dances at Southport - ironically the only time I've had to change my T shirt afternoon blues room dancing was after dancing with you in CJ's set... was told I looked hot 2 tracks later, but it was worth it ! If you don't burn up the energy yourself you're very good at transmitting it!!
We all get hot & sweaty, it's only an issue if it gets smelly, which is when it can't evaporate - so no lycra - I've never known it be a problem with you, I don't think you should worry too much...

Re: Excessive perspiration.. Is there a cure ???

I'm sure I've read somewhere that the fitter you are, the easier you'll sweat? It certainly seems to be that way for me anyway!

So if that's true Paul, don't do anything about it, just revel in your supreme level of fitness

I was wondering how lightweight the shirts and trousers were, and what they're made of.

I find the weight and the material of the shirts and trousers makes a huge difference.

Thin high wicking technical materials keep you cooler so you sweat less, and will dry quickly, if they do get wet.

If it is dark coloured, even if it is wet, that doesn't always have to be apparent to your dance partners.

It may also help to pre-moisten a new shirt with a water spray, so it keeps you cooler from the start without the need for sweat.

Big downsides are the cost and you cannot just chuck them in the tumble dryer, as you can cotton.

As it takes most of my wardrobe for SP and other weekenders there is a vast array of differing shirts made of all sorts of materials and all colours (except pink) only pink item is the TUTU.

I appreciate all the help, advice, and info offererd by all the contributers to this thread.
I have a lot of research to do and many things to try out. THANKYOU all

Re: Excessive perspiration.. Is there a cure ???

The main thing is that you are considerate and take lots of changes of clothes.

I sweat a lot dancing, always have, whether I am fit, fat or in-between.

I have tried many combinations of clothes.

I do go with Andy's priciple of cooling down before changing - then a quick wash or splash of water, maybe some deoderant, then a change.

On a busy night, if I get asked to dance, just as I am about to change - I usually offer the lady the chioce - "would you like to dance the next track with a 'dry me' or this track with a 'wet me' - as I was just about to change my top".
