No - too much like hard work. Especially with the consolidation class

As I may have mentioned...

Re: Would you be a taxi dancer?

Sounds good to me, but then I love helping people to learn and I love dancing, so sharing that passion and helping people learn at the same time would appeal to me. No options for that here, as yet...

I've been dancing about 15months now, and go to my regular venue (Clapham Junction, London) once a week without fail.

I've been asked to Taxi and have also helped them with busking but even though you only have to taxi every other week something didn't quite do it for me (yes even the free entry ).

I don't mind the consolidation class, infact i sometimes go in to make up the male numbers and to refresh my base moves again.

I think it's because i don't like the fact i'm committed to turning up ever other week without fail at the same time.

If dancers want to help the begginers there's nothing stopping them from doing so as a regular customer. You don't have to wear the black t-shirt to be of help

My thoughts exactly.

You're not a clone of me, are you?

Plus, bonus points for "begginers", can't stand the beggars...

Re: Would you be a taxi dancer?

I think that I may consider becoming a taxi dancer in a few months time when I feel that I have reached a level valuable to passs on to baginners but at the moment I am just happy dancing as an intermediate as much as possible (and I really mean that, I dance at least 4 night times a week).

Taxi dancers are invaluable to ceroc though and without them, I would not have continued dancing.

I've been having a similar discussion with a taxi friend of mine who has been considering resigning for a little while.

I'm in a nice position in one LeRoc organisation. I volunteer to help out with beginners, I demo/teach sometimes, I do the odd bit of admin, I sometimes DJ, and this Saturday I'm helping out with a beginners workshop. But I'm not obliged to - which means I'll happily do it because I want to. For this I receive better perks than most franchises. It works for me.

Re: Would you be a taxi dancer?

I was "kind of "for a short period of time, however I work lots of funny hours and I would find committing on a regular basis a bit tricky.

It also went backwards when I had a long period off the dance floor last year.

If might apply again but, I'm not sure if they'd accept me though!

Re: Would you be a taxi dancer?

Yes, I would definately want to do it once I got to be a better dancer
I love to help new dancers anyway, so to do it officially would be great! Must be so rewarding, especially the look on someones face when they manage to get to grips with the move they've been having problems with But, i'm not sure if i'd be able to do it-don't know if I could ever lead a dance-I don't know how you girls do it

Re: Would you be a taxi dancer?

If I was able to dance more than once a week, I probably would. But I dance with the beginners as much as I can anyway and I always participate in the beginner's classes. The only thing that Taxi-ing would do for me would be get me in for nowt when I wasn't taxi-ing; but on days I was on-duty, I would feel that I couldn't dance with anyone just for "enjoyment" - I would always be thinking 'what can I tell this person that will make them a better dancer?'

Is there a "market" for an 'intermediate' taxi-dancer? One who is there to give feedback and constructive advice about the intermediate moves just performed and help people who are not 'beginners' but are not yet confident dancers?
