Pole dancing as MJ inspiration

I was watching a pole dancing lesson this afternoon (photographing it rather than participating, unfortunately) and I wondered if any MJers had used it as inspiration. It appeared that some of the 'wriggling' moves could be useful when 'playing' ... and I guess could be especially useful if your partner is tall, thin and somewhat inanimate It did seem, however, that the "wet knicker" look that Kate suggests we avoid in Jango lessons was more in evidence than a more demure "knees together" style.

I'm totally in awe of some of the girls who Pole Dance, there was a programme on tv (months ago) about an exclusive club in London, which had interviews with the girls and clips of their performances - fit or what?

I'd love to go to some classes but can understand that the *knees together* look might make it all a little bit difficult.

Re: Pole dancing as MJ inspiration

I bought my partner a "learn to pole dance" dvd one christmas as a humourous stocking filler present one year. The only thing that I got out of it was a bit of inspitration out of it for an airstep that I used in a recent photo shoot.

If you want more information about all things to do with pole dancing (lessons, costumes, poles, job opportunities etc) visit

http://www.mypole.co.uk

I had great fun with my partners secretary (also a dancer) trying to plan that she would be in London for three wednesdays for meetings so that she could go on the "diploma" course in pole dancing at a place called "for your eyes only" (your can't go on the advanced course on saturdays until doing this one). This didn't come to pass but I did find out that there are recognised qualifications within the pole dancing industry that are well regarded.

As for the DVD, the funniest moment came when the bikini clad instructress calmly announced during a move that "this is the moment when most girls want to take their bra off". The real problem that I have found it persauding the girls to get into that position in the first place

The idea that I did get from the pole dancing DVD was to us to use a peice of rope tied to the bannister in the hallway as a substitute for a partners arm. You can use the rope to hang to either with or without tension and practice your "end of arm" or travelling improvisations. It never gets bored, never lets you go when you are hanging on it, it never starts pulling you when you are still playing.

lindyloo will become famous soon enough
Re: Pole dancing as MJ inspiration

The pole dancing competition was truly inspirational at the Black & White Ball last year and people were falling over each other to have a go.

So much so that the Pole will be installed at this years Black & White Ball and the competition will be taken more seriously!

So get practising
