OK Thanks to DavidJames for using the phrase 'HORROR STORIES OF EVIL PEOPLE WHO HAVE DROPPED ME' in the 'dips and drops' thread, has given me the idea to start this one off.

I want to hear all your horror stories on ALL the accidents you have had during drops/dips/seducers and aerials. I can imagine more women will post on this one, (as they are the ones getting thrown around after all).

Actually nobody has ever dropped me, which I suppose is quit normal being a big guy. Despite the title of the thread I will contribute. Early on in my dance career I did put a lady into a dip, and she got hit on the head quite hard with an elbow. It remains my worst MJ moment. From then on I have sought quiet edges and corners to do them.

I think three people have tried to drop me in freestyle now, all non-evil, all unsuccessfully. None of them asked permission, which absolutely didn't bother me. My favourite attempt went like this:

L: *leads a drop*
F: *stands still, looking clueless*
L: "Drop!"
F: "Which way??"
L: "... backwards."

Hey, it seemed like a good question at the time.

Well you do learn from experiencing accidents like that...not just the man but the lady too. If I was her, i would have said that 'it's too crowded or something and that it wouldn't feel comfortable doing a drop in a overcrowded hall.

Bearing in mind I'm the size of an elephant, the few people who have tried drops & leans with me have generally done so very carefully

. Michaela Walker used to do the Helicopter with me, straight after I'd done it with her. And a lady lead dropped me successfully at the ISH last week, in fact

Meanwhile, along time a go, in a venue far far away, in the days when there were signals for the lap sit and 1st move jump* I was dancing with one of my then favorite partners (not so now only because she moved, not because of the following I might add

). It was the first dance after the Christmas break. We had done a number of different drops, dips, leans, lifts etc in the past and were comfortable with these. I clearly signalled a lap sit. I was feeling particularly pleased with myself at this point, because I had found a nice open spot by the left hand corner of the stage, facing into the room, and was about to hit the upcoming break, spot on. So, both smug and complacent...
The girl, for some unknown reason came in to the side by side position as expected, then launched herself out at an angle of 45 degrees, head first towards said stage, which incidentally had a metal facing. I was fairly well planted by this stage, expecting her to sit on my lap, as I was. I managed to reach forward and catch her enough to stop her head impacting the stage, but she ended up on the floor, followed shortly by me, having torn the ligaments in my lower back. Net result, no dancing for nearly 2 months

She said afterwards that she was confused at the time, and was actually thinking about what pose to strike for the break, when she saw me signalling.

*old-time signals:

Lap sit; small semi-circle to left, step backing patting top of right thigh with right hand.

1st move jump; small semi-circle to left, step back patting right shoulder with right hand.

OUCH...that's gotta hurt!!!

At Camber a few years ago now:

Very fast seducer, guy, for some bizarre reason, decided to bring knee upwards into the back of my head, net result: mild whiplash & concussion!

I think this may have been down to the copious amounts of alcohol consumed by both parties at dinner, before dancing!

Yes, one of the very rare occasions when I have refused a dance (it was a second dance) was when the guy had had more alcohol than was appropriate for good co-ordination and was very keen to practice some drops!

A accident waiting to happen - so I politely declined.

was once dropped at a hammersmith free style....not really sure what happened .....

but i was dropped put my hands down to break my fall and someone trod on my pinky!

oooh it did hurt!

but im ok now.... and FYI we carried on

and danced some more!

I dont think i've ever been dropped, its hard to remember all the years...

I did get an elbow to my head by a teacher doing multiple spins very fast. I had a bit of concussion after that one!!

I haven't been dropped as such, but I have used myself as a crash mat for ladies who have been dancing with me and lead themselves into a drop I wasn't doing!

Mmmm? I have been tripped, does that count? Mind you it was an accident, no malice I don't think, and the lady that fell on top of me was rather nice!

Hmm, yeah. Both of you sent spinning into the same space at the same time. Not fun. More than a bit of concussion, too - you were ill for days after that!

This isn't always a bad thing, this is, afterall, how the fabulous Andy & Rena first met! Rena was actually dancing with someone else, who threw her in the air, and she landed on Andy! The rest, they say, is history.....

Hmmm not a good idea at all. I must admit I have only ever done MJ once and I was absolutely plastered!!! My teachers girlfriend decided to have a dance with me and thought it would by funny to keep spinning me round and round. I couldn't tell which was the floor, ceiling or walls and I felt a bit sick

and amusing at the same time!!

I won't be doing it again though!!!
