Yeah ! you presume correctly. I'll probably ditch herbalism.. as it's slow going. Nash can mine goods for her to prospect, Beo can disenchant any rings she makes etc..

Meanwhile she'll still be skinning for Beo's leatherworking, and Beo can Enchant both his leathers and Nash's Blacksmithing products

a nice support group I've got going here

Just a quick observation. With the jewel-crafting, I usually find that it's cheaper to buy the actual product than the mats to make it. There's usually a number of the actual items on, that people have made to raise up their skills, far cheaper than the mats.

For example, when I was levelling up my JC skill, I was buying gems at about 4-10g each, and making an item that would sell for less than 1g.

So, unless you're farming the mats yourself, which you may well be in this instance, then see how much the actual item is selling for on the AH!

Yes, I agree.. but I have mountains of leather at the bank at the moment, if that's all it takes then I'm sorted.

Anyway this is a moot point, as I dinged 40 over the weekend I'm now wearing Plate helmets

    Re: World of Warcraft

    On another topic.

The licious forum got , what I suspect was, a spam account. It was a USA email address, the email address was from a site of dubious content.

I didn't recognise the user name and so didn't authorise their account.

To this end I'm writing a "How to join" post for the forum but I just wanted to bounce some ideas off you here.

What I'm planning to propose (and this has to be agreed among you all.. Especially Tessa as Guild leader) that there's a limited number of people who can invite people to the guild. AFAIK this is already the case (Only Steve, Tessa and Sarah can invite is that correct?) the fewer people that can invite the better.

Anyone who wants to join the guild will have to go through a vetting process. Ie we have to have played with them , run a few instances/ quests with them etc and know they're not numpties.

On the forum side, I was planning on creating a "probationary" user group, Who can view posts but not post in any EXCEPT for one particular area (The applications area) .. they have to register but can only register if they are in the Guild (probational status)

After playing with them for a while we can vote on the forum if they should get in and if so we promote them on both the Guild and the forum to full member.

This is how I ran my corporation in EVE-Online and it worked very well and had many many members at one point. of course in Eve it's slightly different as you could assign jobs to members, like finance manager who could control the shared corporation coffers, or someone who had access to all the shared ship and equipment hangers. As trust was gained you got greater access to both the forum and the corp items. Wow isn't that deep,

I don't want to open up the forum to spammers (for one thing It's my website and my email and my money that's paying for it all.. and I don't want someone selling viagra etc on it) but I do want to be able to allow potential guild members to post a little about themselves, their goals etc.. and an area where where we can discuss potential members.

I could also , with a little coding, close the forum to new members unless you have a membership code.. which you'd get in game ONLY from certain people and ONLY after you'd been vetted in play? that might work too.

    Suggestions?

I'll make a thread on The Licious where we can discuss this issue. Of course, we may not want to recruit at all .. and keep it a nice family guild .. with our myriad alts

Well in the interests of a fair fight....

My other minions also wanted pets

A crimson snake for my temptress succubus seems appropriate and for the imp that says the same line over and over and over... a parrot

    Re: World of Warcraft

ok after another two attempted Viagra sellers trying to register on the forum you now need an Authorisation Password to register AS WELL AS the visual confirmation.

I have pm'd Tessa and Trampy with the code. Please don't share this out willy nilly. It will change regularly so be aware of that too.

    Details on the forum !

Admin Orc, defending the gates of the Licous forum from all attacks since 2007

This is only an issue if the Licious recruits new blood if that doesn't happen then nothing is needed to be done, it does however stop all the spamming registrations from getting to my inbox and me having to log on to disapprove/delete their account (They can't post until I approve it but they still get an account .. albeit a locked one!)

Do we need to *do* anything, or is this only if you're a new person registering?

No this is only if you're a new person registering. Once you've registered it's business as usual.

New registeree's (i think I made that word up) will need to get the password from Toireasa or Trampy in game.

However as Guild recruitment has been MOSTLY from us and our alts it's not a problem it's just on the off chance we get a new member joining.

In the meantime my spam levels drop considerably

    ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Be warned when you next play Wow it will automatically load an update patch when you exit. The patch is 80MB and even on broadband takes about an hour to download!

Not something you want to discover at midnight tonight when you're going to bed and want to shut the pc down.

    *mutter*
