Oh nooooooooooo!!! The evening only female tickets for the Swinging the blues ball in Chiswick on Saturday have sold out I always leave everything to the last minute. If anyone has one to sell could you pleeeeeeease pm me! Thanks!
Hmm. Tickets for a saturday night freestyle to be booked in advance.
Obviously great for the organisers, but it sucks for the customers.
Shall be DJING AT UTOPIA EVESHAM TOWN HALL FRIDAY 25TH.
Great venue super floor
C'mon - I am not the only forumite going the NI Anniversary Ball!!
I think it is great for the customers that tickets are limited and must be booked in advance. I have been to too many dances where the organisers have just allowed the people to keep ramming in to the point where no real dancing can be done by anyone.
We are having to travel a long way and book a hotel for this event. That is not something we would ever do if there was previous knowledge that the organisers could or would allow the venue to get rammed solid.
Previous swinging the blues events have been pretty packed during the day workshops and then stupidly crowded in the evening. I have wardrobes in my house that have more space inside them than I have had to dance in at this event in previous years. If it happens again I would be looking at getting a ticket for the workshops only, or failing that, just giving the whole event a miss in future years.

I am probably dancing locally tonight, which means no Chiswick for me tomorrow. Appy polly logies to all my friends.
Sure, it is perfectly possible to control numbers on the door. Would you take the chance of driving all the way from southampton to chiswick only to be told at the door that all the tickets were sold and you couldn't come in though?
It only takes a few minutes online to book a ticket and be sure of your place before you leave home, especially for someone comfortable with the internet as you are. I can see it would be a pain for someone that either didn't have or wasn't confident with the internet though. Many events that are reservation only you can reserve your ticket by phone and pay on the door. That way the organisers can ensure that the place isn't rammed out (so the punters actually get what they pay for) and to ensure the gender balance isn't too out of kilter.
Surely reserving and/or paying even a day in advance isn't too much of an inconvenience for ensuring that you have an unwasted journey and an enjoyable night when you get there?

Graham Fox's birthday party night on Saturday, then his WCS workshop on the Sunday afternoon.
