Party Weekender - Warmwell in Weymouth end April
I have just booked on this with a dancing friend who has two small girls (4 & 8) plus her non dancing mum (who will baby sit in the evenings)
This is such a great weekender if you want to take the family and socialise - AND you can still get some dancing and classes thrown in (and some great bands)
Anyone else from the forum going ???

I looked at this, but I carn't get the children to loose any more time from school.
Partywekender has offered a deal for the last few Cabins remaining...
3 of you going, paying just £100 each and a 4th can go for free. The accomodation is 2nd to none and they do make an effort with teachers and a couple of live bands etc
Personally i love it there, one of my favourite weekenders if I am honest.
iv been to this one seven times in a row!its not a dance, dance, dance event but as mentioned above a great place for a holiday with a bit of dancing thorwn in. It is similar people that go every time so it has a great community feel. Dancing finishes rather early so it is the log cabin after parties that make it for me!see you there minnie m!Grab me for a dance!
xx
I am going with a friend with children so will be leaving Sunday early evening (most dancers with children leave then)
If you leave Friday after school you will still get Friday night in too !
Still worth it even with Sunday night's dancing missing as there is so much to do during the day (including dancing to Live bands - Rock 'n Roll & Lindy too)
Look forward to it Nick, especially as I missed out at Brean

Anyone know who will be there bands wise? the web site is a bit vague to say the least
i Believe they are doing more modern jive and few less bands this time round but not 110% sure. But I can tell you it has two dance areas now.
Its been going 10 years and the accomidation is generally excellent unless you go cheap budget. On the site, You get a choice (providing you book early) around the lake (you can fish too), in the country, up the hill side, near the venue or for the big kids(adults) the, or by the dry sky slope.
Been going for years, I usually shoot of off to nearby Weymouth too for a stroll on the beach, one of the countrys most sunniest towns!!
Hey if you not been before, get a late deal, we missed out on that deal because we book in advance each time but not disappointed as I understand some promotors like to get rid of last few chalets, get one and have fun too!
Well we've booked
The bands are Next Move (covers I think), Greggi G (Boogie!), Alley Cats (swingy R&B RnR type stuff) and Earl Jackson (RnR) so 3 out of 4 to get exhausted to
Got a Gold 4 berth Chalet for £300 so not too bad - waiting to hear if Clevedonboy Jr is going to come along from Sunny Brighton
Just back from Warmwell ............fantastic........... and wasn't the weather glorious !!!!
This is definitely THE weekend for socialising and fun, however I did get my dancing 'fix' too
The accomadation is by far the best of all the weekenders, my one overlooked the lake and was only a couple of mins to the main complex.
I had fun with my friend's children playing basket ball (haven't lost my touch got loads of goals) - and watching them on the ski-slope and the play areas
Classes were OK (not that I 'watched' many) - althought I was introduced to the art of Belly Dancing - that was sooooooooo much fun (and hard to do - still aching)
The introduction of the second room for (the "Roller Rink") was great - loved the floor - although a couple of the DJ's played too much lindy fast music and there was only a couple of lindy dancers, loved Colin Shaul's set - but there again he is one of my fave DJ's - he always reads the floor . Upset I missed Nick's set in the afternoon - was having too much fun with the children
PS: Mikey was great - I think he asked nearly every woman in the room to dance
PPS: Jiver (Phil G) - wow - your WCS is fabby - thanks for the dances
PPPS: Thanks to all the forumites I danced with - don't remember your forum names (sorry)

What a great addition the 2nd dance venue made and I’m sure this is one major change to a format that has survived for 10 years is going to go from strength to strength. I loved the Blues room (thanks Minnie) and its in the same dance complex so no going back outside!
They have made many fantastic upgrades to the chalets plus now the restaurant has been redesigned too. (Love the cheesy chips). Who can offer a ski slope where so many people have fun, let alone the lake fishing. With Weymouth close and its sunny record, a nice stroll on the beach is an annual enjoyment. As for the new chalets the Platinum grade where our friends stayed are just out of this world and well worth the few quid extra!!
The next event in November is the BIG 10th year birthday and there are lots planned, so if I was you, book soon because it’s going to sell out early the organisers are very confident about. The confidence is back with so many choices of weekenders, this one took a battering with other sites competing but this one is back there in the top section now.
Other changes mean less bands and more freestyle in the main hall.
The rivalry between Newquay Jive & LeRoc/Lets Live & Lets Jive Dorking in the fancy dress cabaret section is something to always to watch and they didn’t let us down. 1st up Newquay with a great Singing in the Rain cabaret but then Dorking blew them away with Bonk. Based on the Bongo song, the 30 plus group dressed in "Thriller" type outfits played all sorts of instruments from tin cans, dustbins, washing liquid bottles filled with pebbles to playing the metal sides of a supermarket trolley to reproduce the sound. Well done Ron & his team for winning!!
On a final note because this site is in the country right next to a nature reserve, people see all sorts of animals. From my room I watched 2 Dear coming up to the window. I watched a squirrel with babies in its mouth transfer from one nest somewhere from another tree, to right in front of us to an old woodpecker’s hole. The babies then had fun sticking their heads out of the hole, coming out nervously, running around the hole and shooting back in. We had friendly ducks coming to our door (or resting on our sloping chalet roof) plus friendly robins playing at our door entrance for a crumb or two. We also had the pleasure of seeing 5 more deer plus a lady saw a Badger for her 1st ever time!
While this weekender wont suit everyone theres a real extra plus for those dancers with families or pet dogs, they have an extra great time because they can come too. Over the years I have been going the children are now turning into adults and love dancing modern jive.
Roll on November! Meanwhile roll on Southport!

Unfortunately we had a miserable time as we have Flu gave up yesterday PM and came home.
The comments re the Chalets is true - very nice (once you work out how things like the hot water system that is cunningly labelled the heating system work).
Location is very nice too (can't quite trump Bluey but we not only heard but saw a Cuckoo)
Lulworth Cove was nice to visit too (had Ice Cream & beer and almost forgot about feeling miserable).
Only watched Graeme & Ann's Big Apple class & the Salsa class - both were up to muster.
Uppers:
Ding Dong Daddios
AlleyCats
Andy & (male) partner's impormptu demo on Saturday evening.
Downers (aside from the obvious):
the floor in the main room - I tripped on a number of occassions & saw others do likewise.
Greggi G was a big let down
Some really predictable song selections (I suppose that may be what happens when you make a big thing about requests)
I think the effort now going into party weekender is going to pay off against competition and basically at the end of the day, the venue is unique
I have taught there for many years now and on this occasion I took my partner and the kids, we ALL had a fabulous time.
I'm sure some dancers may think, mmmm kids and dancing, err no thanks, but in honesty, the kids that are there are not running round the dancefloor, the few teenage ones are actually dancing and learning. I even danced with my best friends 14 yearold daughter this weekend for the first time and I will eat my hat if little "Bobbie" is not a star of dancing by the time she is 16, one of the most natural dancers i have ever had the pleasure of discovering
I also have to give partyweekender respect for adding a questionaire to the info packs, they really do want to know, what works and what the dancers want
On a downer, yes the main floor was a little sticky for me, but after gliding round the new room I was spoilt anyway..
See you on the dancefloor at Southport

Thats ok hun, thanks for the dances they were fabby!
Just want to echoe the comments that have gone before, warmwell definately had a different feel to it and i absolutely loved it, i can see it going from strenght to strength.
I felt honoured to be one of the first to play in the blues room and loved playing the last set sun nite in the roller rink, there was such a good atmosphere in there!
Roll on november!
Nick
