What about people who live in Fenland (Cambridgeshire and Norfolk) - they have thumbs it's just that they haven't learnt how to use opposable thumbs yet.

What confuses them is that they have two thumbs on one hand and 6 fingers on the other - unlike their parents who have another combination: but they are cousins so you'd expect them to be similar
