    Dancing in and around Bath

I'll be spending a week in Beautiful Bath soon and have found some great looking dance nights:

    Monday - Trowbridge
    Tues - Bath Pavilion
    Wed - Claverton Down
    Thu - Chippenham
    Friday freestyles in Melksham

Have I missed any good venues?

Are any of these venues to be avoided / definitely attended? Please PM me with the lowdown if you are a local / in the know

    Can't wait

    Hi

Claverton Down is quite a friendly venue .I have ha some good nights there when I have been in Bath on Business.
The Bath Pavilion is relatively new as a venue. It is very big and parking is a bit of a nightmare but again I had a very good night and the people were friendly.

    Enjoy your Dancing

While you're there look out for Mr Bombastic - he's a regular at the Pavillion and Claverton Down (if memory serves).
    He's a lovely dancer.

    Have fun!

Probably worth putting a post out on the www.leroc-in-bristol.co.uk forum and the www.gingerjive.com forum.

Thanks everybody for your advice. Will definitely be bringing my dancing shoes and a disguise as I'm a bit bothered about bumping into an old dancing flame from my uni days.

Hi daisy - I live in Bath and dance at all those venues - let me know when you are coming and I will watch out for you and/or show you round. You might consider Bristol rather than Trowbridge on the Monday - Trowbridge is a lovely venue and very friendly people, but in general there are fewer advanced dancers and more beginner/intermediate folk. Depends what you are looking for I suppose.

My advice to you is don't dance either in or around your bath. It could be slippery and you might fall and hurt yourself. Don't risk it.

    Reporting back:

Well CeroClive in Bath was wonderful (never did get to meet Clive). So many fabulous men and I didn't have to do all the asking either. Best of all, the women weren't at all predatory (not like up North)

Very friendly venues (not what I'm used to up North). People talked to me Excellent lessons and music too (no Mavericks though)

    Girls, I'd heartily recommend:

Nick M (if I'd known how good he was I wouldn't have had the nerve to ask)
Rupert Senior (who used to dance rock n'roll when it was first invented)
Paul (who seemed to think I was the best thing since sliced bread)
David Bellamy (well, maybe not The David Bellamy but could have been his twin - lovely dancer)
The man in the pink shirt
Any man in an olive green shirt
The Taxis who thought I was a beginner (who cares? Had some fab dances with them)
There were others worthy of a mention who have slipped my memory. Didn't have a bad dance all night.

No idea if the women are any good, I didn't have time to watch any of them.

Think I might emigrate down there. I'm fed up with fighting for a man up here.

I'll do my best. However, before I do, I need to apply some red hair dye so that you'll recognise me next time.
