Should there be a "sticky thread" for cancellations?

    Just a thought:
How about a "Sticky Thread" in here for cancelled events?
(Fletch wrote not long ago about problems when you travel out to a venue, and it's been cancelled! )
Just noticed Gus' post, and thought there ought to be somewhere permanent to put that sort of thing.
    So what do people think?

I am going to try and post a poll (hey, it's a rainy Bank Holiday, so it is either this, or do some housework! )

Hmm... A cancellation notice is much, much better in a thread of its own so that you can see if an event you're interested in has been cancelled without having to dig through a thread on the off-chance...

It might be worth it for such cancellation (and venue-change) threads to be made sticky until the scheduled event date passes, though. I wonder how easy it is to do that automatically...

    Good point!
I can just imagine, especially if there are several postings on the same event, worse if there is some disagreement, or the event is resurrected at a different venue!
But I posted this thread because the cancellation post was easy to miss amongst all the others, especially with all excitement over Southport just now.
Is all that is needed is a way to have a different colour of text in the "Title" line of cancellation posts? …So they stand out.
Perhaps a “cancellation notice” option in the post composition screen? – something like that, anyway.
This can get really complicated really fast: probably why no-one has posted this thread before

Re: Should there be a "sticky thread" for cancellations?

Having given this some more thought, I decided to create a special area of the Forum for last minute cancellations, closures and changes of venues.
You can all subscribe to this area of the forum to get email notifications of new threads / posts, so you're kept informed of important notifications.

To avoid this area and your mailboxes being clogged with chit chat, moderation will be very strict and only relevant threads / replies will be kept, everything else will be deleted.

    I hope this helps,
    Franck.

    There's an A.P.P. for that!

So what happened to the strict moderation on this thread, then?

Are all these replies relevant to that cancellation??

Very good point - I've deleted all the other posts and closed the thread.
