Dear All
On Thursday 21st June (the longest day of the year) between 9pm and 10pm, we will be switching off all non essential lights in our London & Altyre Road buildings, as part of a London wide campaign to help raise awareness of climate change. The aim of the campaign is to show that if we each took a few small steps we could make a real difference to reduce our Carbon emissions.
We will be supporting Capital 95.8's Lights Out London initiative by doing our bit, but we'd also like to encourage you to take part at home by switching off. Here are few ideas that could help you make a real difference.
· Lighting accounts for 25% of all electricity consumed worldwide, so switch off those lights whenever you can.
· Washing dishes by hand uses 37% less water than an energy efficient dishwasher, so get your rubber gloves on.
· If everyone in the UK installed three energy efficient light bulbs it would save enough energy in a year to supply all the country's street lighting, so go and buy some!
To find out more about the campaign and register your personal support, please visit Capital 95.8 - Lights Out London
It should be mentioned that in our new and refurbished offices our building controls are designed to minimise energy use when not required e.g. during the evening/night time, but despite that we will be “manually” switching off the lights during the above mentioned period. If you are working during these hours please let the Facilities Helpdesk know, as we don’t want you to work in the dark.

Great chance to plug a great track to promote the event
