OMG - I thought for a few moments that you were talking about the weather!
I remember the days when the aftermath threads would start before the event itself had even begun. Now it's nearly 10 a.m on the Monday, Mike's probably down to his last pallet of bottled water and still nothing. Nada. Not a squeak
Come on people, those of us who didn't go need to hear about the dodgy flooring, evil seagulls, traffic jams, lost mojos, cliquey after parties, excitable weekender virgin's cherry popping, hilarious partner stealing games, cheeky Franck moves and chilled Sunday afternoon dancing that we no doubt missed out on.
OMG - I thought for a few moments that you were talking about the weather!
So did I. I had forgotten about the Storm weekender, show's how much I was interested.
Just to please Rob...
Had a brilliant weekend. In traditional Style...
Good Points
Some good workshops. Had a good masterclass with Franck. Thought they were a good idea in that it is easier to explain complex stuff to groups of 30 rather than 300.
Men to women ratio seemed ok in workshops. Infact a few I saw were men over!!
Music was good apart from some of the same old samey stuff (spanish Guitar, Stuck on you etc).
Little Joe. Brilliant for his age. Has come on leaps and bounds since I last saw him.
Floor was very quick.
Bad Points
Would be nice if the sack the DJ spot was kept for non ceroc DJ's and not those who were DJ'ing in the main hall.
Women (and some men, but mainly women) thought it would be a good idea to stand on the spare dance floor upstairs whilst waiting to be asked for a dance making most of the spare floor pretty unusable. Same with people carrying drinks across.
No WCS classes
Overall fab weekend. Seemed alot of the usual people missing but I guess it is due to Blackpool next week.
great weekend
thanks to jack and caz and 2tone for being great roomies
mac thanks
fletch thanks for the cake for tianias birthday, you are a star
took 7 hours to get home due to traffic and there was a crash on m6 did not help
just had text of fletch and they are stuck in traffic to,
had some fab dances with under par and marc f,
best dance with dale in the blues room thanks,
caz you are great thanks i hope you got the dance you wanted (u know with who i mean )
can not wait till the next one see you all soon
Had a fab weekend and a few good dances in between practicing with partner.
Music was fab, atmosphere was electric and the floor up stairs was just spot on for me. Found it was was too hot on the Friday night and was on the verge of passing out... but hey was saved when passing Mike Ellards jumbo fan! I think the beads of sweat turned to mini icicles after standing right in front of for 5 minutes!
The music in the blues room was fab, but the floor was way to slippy.
Luuurved the dance shop and bought a gorgeous pair of shoes.
Caberet on Sat night was fab. Will be a shame to see Alex go .. I'll miss watching those fab spins of his too,,,, now we're one fan short! just kidding A. All the best in Canada.
Well i have just arrived back through the door.
I had a fabby weekend.
Cant comment on the classes as i didnt attend any however the freestyles were amazing. Generally i dance in the blues room but went up to the main room a few times during the weekend and the music was fab.
Sheenas sets in the blues room really got me in the mood on saturday. I really liked the varied music each dj played as it meant that we got a little of everything there wasn't very many times i thought "mmm not sure about this song"
I am trying to remember all the songs i loved and wanted to download so should any dj's want to post their playlists then i would be incredibly grateful.
I want to say thanks to Claire S who was just the perfect chalet mate and helped me make decisions on what to wear, what time to go dancing and what to eat ! She really made my weekend for me.
I had the best dances with Caz, Franck, Raph, Ruby, Foxy Funkster, the tramp, mark kerr and a young gentleman from bristol who i dont think is on the forum. I think i had only one or two really awful dances and i am assuming it was because i wasnt on form at that point of the night.
My dance of the weekend i think has to go to the lovely Mrs Under Par who kindly suffered my leading to Bleeding Love in the Pub on sunday after noon!! Especially after i managed to put under par out of action on the saturday night, sorry honey!!!
I missed a few of the usual suspects but found lots of lovely new dancers.
All in all the weekend gets top marks from me!!!
Roll on Blaze and VLV!!!
My first weekender in over a year and I had a fab time, just gutted I had to leave on Sunday. It was great to catch up with those of you I hadn't seen for ages. I had some fantastic dances, and have most certainly got the bug again!
A big thank to Fletch for looking after me, it was lovely to meet your kids, they are a credit to you. Jo is such a good lead for his age, he is going to be an awesome dancer!
It was great to meet Caz, Two Tone, and Sway, what lovely ladies you are, hope to see you again soon.
Trampy - can't believe you recognised me from my smile, thank you for my dances. So good for a beginner.
Had a fabulous time at Storm, it peaked on Sunday night and I didn't want it to end. Feet still aching, eyes very tired but endorphins still going strong.
It was lovely to put 'faces' to names (thanks Fletch for doing that).
Pure pleasure were my dances with Raphael, Ruby, Franck and DJ to name just a few.
Congratulations again to my fellow team mates for helping to win the pub quiz on Saturday it was fun.
Short post as not been to bed yet....
Really great weekend.. Enjoyed my first weekender alone much more than I imagined I would (sorry Jamie!...)..
Can't name names but had some amazing dances, great to socialise with everyone, great chalet mates (even tho we hardly saw each other!), special thanks to Mark Kerr for being my chauffeur.. we eventually got home....
Surprised myself this weekend a few times but in good ways! I AM shy.....
Fab weekend.. roll on the next one...

Franck and Sheena i really enjoyed your basic slot workshop not only informative but great fun as well
its now after midnight on tues mornin i have just been taxi ing at bishops stortford having had about 10 hours sleep over the entire weekend (probably more than most) i am off to bed
Had a truly fab weekend and the adrenalin has just started to subside.
particularly enjoyed 2 workshops Naughty but nice - Adam Brown and strangely there were men over for this! and Smooth and Sensual - Val and David (please if either Val or David read this could you let me know the title of the song you played in the workshop, had sweat in the title (but it is not black sweat))
Met and dance with the great Franck, what a loverly guy and what a dancer, still can't wipe the smile off my face
Spent most of the time in the blues room and the music was just brilliant
Thanks to all the guys I danced with and Jay Jay!
Had a very mixed weekend.
Firstly, there was the sprained ankle to make me nervous about dancing.
Then at 4pm on Friday, my chalet-mate announced that she wasn’t well and wouldn’t be coming. So I wound up in a Club chalet all on my own… which would’ve been fine except that we’d planned a girly weekend as I wouldn’t be able to do much in the way of workshops
Made good time down to Camber on Friday night, till we got diverted due to a closed road when we were almost there, which made our journey considerably longer. Then whilst going down a narrow country road, some bl00dy idiot failed to dip his headlights, totally blinded me and I managed to collide with a jutting-out wall. It could have been a lot worse - fortunately all I did was remove my left wing mirror with a very loud crunching sound and frighten the life out of poor Shea and myself . Was my first accident since learning to drive
Finally got to Camber about 11, and by the time I’d sorted myself out, had missed the forum gathering, and initially couldn’t find anyone I knew at all. Luckily spotted Franck, who listened patiently to my tale of woe, gave me a huge hug told me I didn’t need my left wing mirror (turns out he’s right – car was due for it’s MOT yesterday and passed fine, despite it’s sorry state!) and took me onto the dancefloor for my first dance of the weekend. What a lovely man!
Unfortunately, I couldn’t find anyone I knew during the day on Saturday, so largely moped about feeling sorry for myself, though did manage one workshop. I stuck to the blues room on Saturday night, not being sure the ankle would cope with upstairs, and spent ages sitting out. I did ask a few people, but felt uncomfortable asking guys to dance and then saying “btw, I’ve got a sprained right ankle” And I guess that as I wasn’t looking particularly approachable, and there weren’t many people around who knew me, that meant I didn’t get asked to dance a whole lot. Having said that, all the dances that I did have were good (from my POV anyway).
Sunday improved enormously. The ankle was fine when I got up – actually felt better than it had done all week I decided that I’d adopt a more positive attitude for the day. I went to the main room for the first time at lunchtime and caught Trampy’s set which was great (and thanks for playing my favourite track for me). One massage and one workshop later and I was still doing OK, so came over earlier than usual to find the blues room rather dead, so ventured upstairs. Had a few good dances up there, but decided to retreat downstairs before I strained the foot (too much spinning) or was asphyxiated by the smell of stale sweat . And whilst it wasn’t exactly a magical night, I was able to dance normally at last and did have a great time – thank goodness! Again, all the dances I had were good, and I got asked enough to keep me happy, and was able to ask for dances as well. And, despite my limitations, I did feel that my dancing developed a little this weekend.
Here’s hoping that I have a disaster-free Southport!
Just trying to get my head together after another Fab weekender.
The good bits.
arrived at 1.30 and was only made to wait 15 mins before been let through the gate.
1st on the dance floor, some things never change.
There were what seemed quite a few new DJ's this weekend, (well new to me) the music over all was good, although it did seem a little rock and roll friday night, this might be because I had to stop up stairs for a big part of the evening.
The team Cabaret was the best I have seen, I particularly liked the fact that it a snippets of different dance, with the attention span of a goldfish I think it helped.
Well, done to all in the Team Cabaret on Sunday, and especially to Joe and Emily (Debbie Atwoods daughter) for your performance, Fab ending, Emily wonderful splits.
Pub quiz's grate fun, especially when we win.
Foxy's set in the blues on Saturday, after telling him I was going to slash my wrists with the depressing music, he went Funky, we even had a circle by the bar 'handbagging'
Good luck to Alex and Lisa and I hope you come back and teach our children.
MartinGold wonderful to get to meet you and your lovely partner.
I also met a lovely guy who has his own web site on dance check it out Inner Joy of Dance
Thanks
Lorry for doing my 'wig' on Saturday it stopped in all night.
Debbie Atwood and children for your company
Caz your a star
Ruby and Lucky for helping me with my Lindy.
All the DJ's that played my requests
My Children for been so good.
Gerry for tirelessly popping back to chalet for thing I had forgotten cos I didn't want to go out in the bad weather.
and a Big thanks to Linda and Mike for letting me take the children.
Not so good bits
It was really hot in the main room on Friday
The flipping wind machines blowing...........just to prove you can't win
Weather was awful
Lucky hurting his back meaning Ruby and Lucky couldn't do the showcase
Saying good by to Lucky early hours of Sunday morning, and watching all the children hugging him, Thank you SpikySteve for taking me for a funky fun dance, and stopping me from blaring.
Missed Linda and Mikes mom and dad for our afternoon chats.
Disgrace
Is it me?
There has always been a level of drinking at a weekender, because of the sheer fact you don't need to drive and it goes on much later, but on the whole its manageable, however this weekend there were a number of insedents that took this to another level as far as i'm concerned.
Please let me point out that although i'm now a non drinker (4 years and 4 months to pe precise)
I am not anti alcohol, I am against anti social behaviour because of it.
there were a number of girls on a 'hen night' this weekend some were non dancers, who at one point were so drunk they fell on the dance floor rolling about, they narrowly miss me and my dance partner, as they got up I very softly said' girls if your going to 'lark' about could yo do it on the carpet not the dance floor its dangerous'
OMG the abuse was the worst I have experienced in a long time, and I have never seen in the dance world, the language and threats were uncalled for, then 'the hen' who is a dancer came over to join in the abuse, so at one point I was being treated with physical violence by all three of them.
IMHO this behaviour should not be stood for, the guy I was dancing with said to me the following day, I was really scared for you, you should just ignore behaviour like that, should I, should we? is this what's wrong with society now, we turn a blind eye, to unexceperble behaviour.
Not me!
Funny how alcohol makes you brave, they weren't so brave the next lunch time when I discussed the matter in the ladies loo's
looking good girls, hangover's real suit you.
ending on a high
My biggest high light of the weekend was Caz's pole dancing, she looked fab.
Make Forster, my funniest moment, you pole dancing, falling and Rachel grabbing her glass of wine.
