    Re: The Stig

Nah he is/was (doesn't seem to be doing much racing of late funnily enough) a GT and ASCAR (European version of NASCAR) racer. As far as I know it was his name mentioned on the H&S report after Hammond's accident in the jet dragster.

I go on quite a few motoring sites and forums and it's generally accepted that he is the Stig. Of course it's not always him, as some manufacturers insist on their own test driver and the whole thing with the Stig is that they can use different people depending on who is available.

Was only going from what I vaguly remember (and it was The Sun )

I thought that might be the case with the Stig. Didn;t they do a thing where they killed him off an aircraft carrier? Maybe they got a new stig for real then?

I think frolicols is probably right, a Clarkson wind-up.

Some say he is the only person who knows the true meaning of the 'semi-circle to the left'.

And that if he owned Ceroc, every class would start:
    dot dot dot dot dot
    dash dot dot dot dot
    dash dash dot dot dot
    dash dash dash dot dot

And that if he owned Formula 1, he would pay that dominatrix to tie up and gag Max Mosley 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Yeah that was killing off of black Stig (Perry McCarthy, apparently because he revealed that he was the Stig in his book) and replacing with white Stig.

I always end up watching it on Dave so I never see them in chronological order and it always tends to be the one with the Veyron vs James may flying a plane over Europe

Michael Schumacher works for Ferrari so when top gear asked Ferrari if they could test their £800K super car around their track. Ferrari probably said only if it is driven by one of our drivers. They did say in the programme how protective Ferrari were about this car. So Ferrari send Schumacher and Top Gear pretend he is the stig
And what a result just look at the PR Ferrari & Top gear got from this exercise. The car smashed the record. And half the UK think Schumacher is the Stig
    What a result

Ferrari won't let anyone else, including the real Stig drive that Ferrari FXX around the track. So they probably devised that stunt to make it look like Schumi was the Stig so they could get the FXX on a Power Lap.
