    Discovered a new word...

    Apologies for the self-referential quote:

Learnt a new word -- thanks to a bout of insomnia, and a late night world service program on percussion -- polyrhythm. Layers of instruments playing in the same time signature, but playing different rhythms.

I think the problem I raised above was the challenge of picking which instrument or rhythm to dance to, and lead.

P.S. according to last night's teacher: really good tango leaders will let their follower pick which instrument the follower wants to dance to... but then he keeps muttering things like "...well in five or so year's time..."

This one took me a few hearings to get into, but is well worth a try.
