I never knew that! It is a recent thing?

The number of times we drove into london from the West country, got hopelessly lost - then danced the last hour or so!

This "closed door" policy would be a real pain for Friday dances.
(Not for this Greenwich ball though )

Umm, dunno. Maybe.

Ashtons is midnight, Chiswick is 10:15 (I think) - dunno why Chiswick is like that, it's not a club or anything, maybe it's just something to do with planning or whatever, it's a residential area after all.

Exactly. Was talking to Jammy about it in the summer. Not admitting people after 10.15 is part of their contract with the council, to minimise distrubance to locals I believe. Initially they hadn't realised it was in the small print and were admitting people later, now they don't.

Oh and this Greenwich party finishes at midnight anyway, so it'd hardly be worth it if you were getting there much after 9.30.

What if you go out for a breath of fresh air *cough* cigarette *cough* after 9.30pm - will they refuse to let you back in again? I can see the place getting more and more empty as the night progresses

So, what you're saying is, there may be less Evil Horrible Smelling Smokers to dance with, as the night goes on? Well, I'm struggling to see the downside there.

Re: Ceroc Greenwich Riverside Ball - 27 December 2007

That would be daft.

Never been a problem at Chiswick (not a smoker, but usually have to go outside to cool off!).

Think it'd be pretty obvious if you had just popped out and were in evening dress at the end of December rather than if you were arriving laden with coats and bags with dancing shoes in... unless you have a habit of dancing in your winter coat

Maybe they'll be stamping our hands as per school disco style?

Tell you what Twirly,

When you want to go out, I'll divert their attention - and you can jump out the window.... posh frock and all!

Or we can fashion a rope from the Curtains....

Or.... um... out of ideas!

Is it upstairs or downstairs?

I know there is a room upstairs and DJ remembers being in the cellar.

Perhaps they are having 2 rooms?

Re: Ceroc Greenwich Riverside Ball - 27 December 2007

okay.... lets clear things up..

we are closing the door at 9.30 ish to allow our hardworking door staff a little bit of dancing time... I am sure there will be a few stragglers but we have paid door security staff who can check off a few people. We don't want masses turning up late!!

you can come and go as you please and you will be checked in and out by our friendly security team.

The venue insist on security due to licensing issues....

we did indeed have two rooms last time, but felt it didn't work and is not available so have resorted to one room. The numbers have been restricted to accomodate this change and the music will be mixed up to ensure all genres are played....

The venue has been refurbihed since our last event and apparently (according to Russ) looks even more gorgeous...

any more queries give me a PM or email dan@cerocgreenwich.co.uk

thaks and see youll there.... I'll be Djing for some of the night

Yeah, that cellar thing was a bit weird - down 3 flights of stairs, around, then through another room or whatever, then it was about 10 square feet, with people sitting on a bench around the edges. It looked like a drug den, or maybe that was just Toby's shirt giving me that impression.

And more dance space Who said anything about a downside

Though to be honest with 4 hours of dancing it might be nice to actually get a breath of fresh air at some point, look at the stars, marvel at the snow, that kinda thing (which apparently I now have the option of doing I suspect Security are there to stop snowballs being brought in Though I'm liking the possibilities of the distraction plan )

So long as you promise to have a bouncy castle placed outside the window to land on
