But there's so many baking for Blaze, that surely my cakes aren't needed? Although I might still bake one or two....

Re: Blaze III - Scotland, 9-12th may

I think I should ask Sheena for my £36 back and see if I can survive on cake for the week end.

Looking forward to being invited to all those well stocked caravans.
My invite to use our oven still stands if needed.

Re: Blaze III - Scotland, 9-12th may

I booked my place on Saturday and have managed to convince a couple of girls from London to come up for the weekend to sample the Scottish talent. It should be a blast! I feel that I need to contribute to the cake-fest now, though. I found this fabulous recipe yesterday -

Step 1 - Go to Tesco
Step 2 - Buy cakes
Step 3 - Try not to eat them before Blaze

I'm still struggling with the third part, but at worst there will be some fabulous crums to share around...

Re: Blaze III - Scotland, 9-12th may

Due to some good fortune it looks as though Sparkles and I will now be able to attend Blaze for most of the weekend

Flights and parking all booked, I can't wait to go back (especially for the covert cake smuggling ring )

Looking forward to lots of excellent teaching, even more great dances and undoubtedly a few

That's brilliant news!

I wonder if we've got the same flights again?

From Cambridge it was 401 miles each way Dave hence deciding to fly.

Can you make it there and back on a single tank?????

Its a long drive but I worked out the costs involved after ryanair charging the baggage allowance and using an average of 37.5 mpg in my car.
For two of us it would cost £171 to fly return. Thats with the 1p return deal from Ryanair. That includes fuel to Stanstead return + parking.

To drive at 37.5 mpg it works out at £110 total. Not that it really matters as we are stopping off at my parents en-route anyway.

I have to say i was pretty bloody angry at RyanAir given that it was advertising its flights at 1p return!!!

Cheers Rob I probably could, as it would be mostly motorway driving and I got 700 miles on last tank which included a lot of town driving.

However she who must be obeyed is edging to fly, as usual I tend to do what I am told when I am told it.

802 miles from a single tank is do-able in my opinion, even if Michele pushes the car the last couple of miles.

I know, cheeky isn't it. They are especially evasive about the baggage allowance and charges (can't really do a weekender on hand luggage)

It's easier for me I guess as Stansted is pretty close but that's still a heck of a drive before dancing and I wouldn't fancy the drive back after dancing all night either (though I do drive back from Southport and that's 210 miles)

Re: Blaze III - Scotland, 9-12th may

Ive had a look and it seems that for me and DTS to travel from Luton to Glasgow is approx 70 quid each, bargain me thinks but...... parking at luton on top of that, taxi to and from glasgow to venue on top of that and to be honest, where are we gonna put the quilts needed to keep out that chill...

So, DTS you will be glad to know we will be driving to Ruby's on thursday night to break the journey and get ready for a long drive back on Monday.

Oh and i have the whip ready for any car pushing thats needed

I remember the last time I drove back from Scotland. It was around 10pm on a Sunday night. NOT A GOOD IDEA!! Nearly fell asleep en-route.

Wait until Sunday and I will wish I was flying
