Southport September 2008 booking issue

So is anyone going to ‘wait for June’ and take advantage of the £20 discount if you book on site at Southport in June for the September event?

If you’re a women def not and now appears if you’re going to book a man /women place then not

I guess if you’re a man then yes you can ‘wait’ and take advantage of the £20 discount

Sexual discrimination

Me thinks if you book for June at Southport in feb you should get the discount for September if ,when you pay the full amount for June (by 1st March) you put a deposit for September as well

Seems to me you risk being unable to book for September if you leave it till June ?

I mean Jon and Wes would get more money earlier?

Or just get rid of the 'discounts' as women cant 'afford' to wait

Re: Southport September 2008 booking issue

Probably wise - I was asked if I'd booked for September yet. Consulting with the guys and may well do so.

I'll probably be booking September soon. Want to get a club apartment, but will need to find someone to share with...

Re: Southport September 2008 booking issue

I'm pretty sure you still get the £20 discount, as long as you are booked for the previous Southport. i.e if you book September now you will still get the discount if you are also booked in for June.
John and Wes don't need to give any discount at all, as they obviously don't have any problems with selling out!

If most women want gender ballancing at these events, you cannot then plead sexual discrimination as to the fact they need to book early (even if it costs more - but from what has been written by others, it seems this one can be sorted anyway).

Whether gender ballancing is good or bad it seems to be wanted by most, and organisers having listened.

So to shout sexual discrimination, when people are trying to do what most people want is a bit harsh

Re: Southport September 2008 booking issue

Gender balancing is one of the things that makes Southport work - no shortage of partners to dance with.

If that means having to book earlier, then that's fine, its only £20 deposit to book, you don't need to pay the full amount at booking unless booking nearer the time. I think the discount still applies if you have been there in June, but as pointed out, JA hardly need to give the discount as a booking incentive! I don't think of it as an incentive, more as a 'reward' for returning customers.

We've booked two weekenders ahead for the last few, having got in by the skin of our teeth last June, & the discount was applied, so you don't lose out by booking extra early. I think however the discount probably isn't reflected on your booking until you've paid the balance for the one before?

It what most women on the forum seem to want , i havent a clue if its what most women want. Franco camber pole was cira 50/50 but that included men which i kind of discount. If my female friend who cant go was asked gender balance or not she would choose not so she could go.

Anyway never been against gender balance just making an observation re the booking which appears to have been answered and probably best to take of line anyway.

One of the appeals of southport is thats its gender balance, would it effect nos if it wasnt ? probably not but respect to the organiser that keep to it.

If I could be bothered, I'd go back and quote all your posts from the last few years, that have given the impression that you are telling porkies here!

Well, I never went back to Franco's weekenders, for exactly that reason!

The numbers might not drop immediately but over time, I think it would.

If I were putting on a one off event, I would not care about gender balancing (coz you take the money and run), but if you are looking to retain customers (and you have competition), then you have to listen to your customers.

So, for all dance weekenders, it seems, if you are female, book early, if you are male, not so much of a worry.

It has now infected Aussie, and all (as far as I know) weekenders here are gender ballanced.

It seems not to harm the organisers as the last one I went to , and the one I am going to next W/E both fully sold out to capacity.

There is a waiting list for the one coming up, but that is not a bad thing... there has been a waiting list for 3 years running... moral being, book early... Creates a prestige and customer demand.

Re: Southport September 2008 booking issue

We booked for June 2008 while at Sept 2007 and were told we couldn't have a discount as we weren't also booking for Feb 2008.

However, we did book for Feb 2008 (at a later date) - but still didn't get the discount.

Feel like we should have had a discount for Feb 2008 and June 2008 really so bit miffed

It's also not a new thing. I remember way back before Jive addiction and Ceroc started weekenders. I used to book, whilst at Francos November weekender, for the following November to ensure a place. It's not as if there aren't alternatives now, if you can't be organised early enough to get in the one you want, you can go to an alternative. Depends how badly you want to go to Southport over a Ceroc weekender. I'm booked up for September already.

Might be worth giving them a call, as they will explain it to you i'm sure. No point in being miffed about it unless you've tried to get it rectified.

So we've all paid <smug>.

What's the theme already Jon n Wes?

The last one I didn't like the one previous was too short notice.
If I'm particpating I need notice.
