Scaling back on cake production . With such a large number of forumites turning up and no ban on taking them into the dancing areas there could be a potential disaster looming - we might run out of cake! Appreciate the problem of having week-enders close together though. Seperate thread on cakes for SP with a poll sounds like a very good idea.

I will be scaling back too, made too much for Blaze and don't really have the time at the moment. Afraid Lost Leader that you'll just have to get in quick if you want cake

I'm sure I can bake a cake to bring along (/me wonders which of my recipes is best)

(although all this cake talk is doing is reminding me of the victoria sponge contest for my village's upcoming produce show )

Shouldn't be a problem... Beo and I will be joining in the bake-off, and maybe a few others could join in too. More forumites baking fewer cakes each should still equal plenty of cakes...

Exactly! Which is why I'm not doing my usual mad cake baking marathon! Oh, and I'll let Beo do his own carrot cake, shall I? After all it's his recipe (with modifications) I'm using.....

I can do a HUGE apple and cinnamon cake instead, plus something else..... I can feel a gateau coming on...... Uh-oh!

In a multi-choice poll, people can vote without making any selection. They are the missing 7 people.

Is there any plans to stop off for a picnic en-route this time?

Re: SOUTHPORT (30th May 2008 - 2nd Jun 2008)

My first time driving up there from SE London - any tips on the journey from experienced Southporters?

Have taken the whole day off, so driving up during the day, not at night.

My own experience is leave as early as possible in Morning. I come up from Surrey/Sussex area and Fridays can take 7 hours- some others have had 9! Its get busy around Stoke or after the toll road ends on Fridays afternoons. Around Warrington around 5pm is a nightmare on motorways. Its seems the workers from Manchester head to Liverpool and vica verus
At night I get back in 3.5-4 hours!!

Be lucky

The M6 can be pretty busy/congested at certain times -when are you travelling up?

If you're planning to bring food, and depending on when you set off, it may be better to set off earlier and do your shopping up there (eg. I think there's a Tescos at Formby if you go that way).
