Right, will have to get Beo practising his baking skills before then - my colleagues (who will doubtless get the practise runs) will be pleased

This mile long walk from Ainsdale station. I don't fancy it.
Are there no mini cabs at that station?

If I got off the train at Southport, is there a bus to Pontins?
Or how much would a mini cab cost from there?

Am I weird to not want to be too close to the halls?

I mean, music will be playing 24/7, and I kind of want to get some sleep at some point...

Re: SOUTHPORT (30th May 2008 - 2nd Jun 2008)

I've ticked a "kind soul to help me get a ticket" - now I DO need a kind soul - no ladies places, wahhhhh! I am booking for September, but have just realised that I won't have any childcare problems in June whatsoever, so trying to do both and can't.
Kind soul - if you have got a lady's place going spare, please get in touch!!!!!!!!!

Yes, last time some of us walked and some took a cab, just saw one I think at or near the station. I can see if they kept the cab company number if you want and PM it to you? It was about £4/5 I think. As they wanted to take a cab back we all did that, just arranged it to get us at the gate. Have to admit it was a very quick and easy and if it was raining I'd definitely go for the cab option.

The walk really is pretty easy but I always do it with friends and chat on the way so it doesn't seem long. On your first visit and if by yourself, just grab a taxi!

The bus route bisects the Ainsdale to Pontins road, so you'd still have to walk 1/2 mile instead.

There are National Express coaches direct to/from Pontins from London, taking about 6 1/2 hours and costing £30, rather than 3 1/2 hours and £70 on the train IIRC.

I don't want to put my back out is why. Even with a suitcase on wheels.

Lovely. I don't mind sleeping near the dance halls as nothing wakes me - being deaf.

I meant how much for a cab from Southport station. I know it would be cheap from Ainsdale station.

Ah, that's out then. thanks for the information FirstMove.

Yes I heard about that. I don't do coaches though. Hate them. End up all stiff. Especially now they all have toilets and never stop so folks can stretch their legs. Plus they take too long.

I like trains - can walk around.
